View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

I went to the gym while the new President was being sworn in and listened to the ceremony on my portable radio while on the treadmill. I let everyone else hear it by taking out my ear plugs and putting on the sound. Everyone was grateful to hear the sound of the TV We all tugged away on the various exercise equipment and talked of how America was coming together both Republicans and Democrats. I live in a very Republican are but everyone seemed to be pleased with all that was going on. Me, I was trying to hold back tears as I thought of my father and how he would be feeling right now if he had lived to see this day. He would be crying too, to see America's first black president. My father the civil rights activist who covered for NBC news many civil rights stories and got beat up by a man who didn't want people to see the Freedom riders would have loved seeing this. To you Dad, I dedicate this day.
I did three miles on the treadmill in 63 minutes for the first time. In real time if I had been walking in the neighborhood my time probably would have been quicker then. The treadmill keeps me at a very even pace I noticed, but on windy days it is best to exercise in doors because of my asthma. I wanted to know if I could do three miles, but was hesitant up to know to try it. Wow. It felt good and I did it at 2.9 speed. I will be under one hour in no time.
I have also lost those few pounds I gained during Christmas and now must lose the pounds I gained in November to get back to 145. The decisions not to eat at church have paid off. I do better when I know what I am eating and can control my portions better. I take my dinner and either eat before I go or take my dinner with me and eat it there. I do this by making a meal that will have left overs the night before and making an extra couple of meals so the next night I have a dinner ready to go. That way my husband and have a meal already for us. I also don't have to cook on fellowship night too. The plan worked last Saturday. Now I will do the same for this Friday's meeting.
Tomorrow I have another one of my surgical procedures for my back that I have to get every five months or so. I am getting a nerve burn in my SI-joint and a cortisone injection in my shoulder. I haven't been able to do weights lately because I have had inflammation in my shoulder. I have a frozen shoulder that once in while needs a shot and a MUA to help keep it loose. It's just that time again for this procedure. Yuck, you all have gone through this with me before. No big deal, except that the doctor has some new equipment for the SI-joint burn that should make the procedure more effective. He can't wait to try it out on his SI joint patients, especially me. I may not be on line tomorrow because of this, so I'll try and catch everyone Friday. Talk to you all then.

You are doing GREAT!!! Only a few more pounds to get back to where you were and then you can work on getting those last few pounds off forever. I was thinking of you last night while I was watching the biggest loser and I saw after just 3 weeks (and about 40 lbs each) all of these people coming off of TONS of medications!! Such an accomplishment!

Good luck with your procedure tomorrow. I so admire you. I do about a 20 minute mile on the treadmill, and I know that means you are a movin' -- good for you to do three in 63 minutes! What an interesting career your Father had, and how sweet of you to remember him on this historic day. I was in tears as I watched the ceremony today. I'm so hopeful and happy to see this man in office - for what he represents and also for who he is and what he can bring to the Office. Congratulations on losing that weight -- I've lost my gain, but am having a bit of a struggle getting the scale going down again. I'll get there though. :wave1:

This day sure had a lot of extra meaning for you because of your Dad. You must have had a very interesting childhood and a viewpoint far beyond your years. Thanks for telling about him. It's so important for all of us to know where we have come from and what, therefore, we should do in our own lives.

what a nice story about your dad - he would surely have loved this and probably already knows about it. Good for you on the awesome workout - I would go stir crazy doing anything for 63 minutes but envy those that can, and for your weight loss. Good lock to you tomorrow - and see you back on line soon.

What a great education you got with a father that was a civil right's activist! I raise a glass to your father! Good luck with the SI-joint procedure. You're doing so many things to improve your health. I'm sure you are an inspiration to your doctor's other patients!

I have to say that I have been very impressed overall by the Republican response to Obama - so many people have been very gracious and said that even though they didn't vote for him, they will support him and wish him the best and I think that that is really amazing.
