Wednesday, Jan 21 2009 - Operation pushed back a day
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
My surgery was pushed back a day which is fine with me because it gave me a chance to go to the new HEB which opened up today. Between the HEB an Kroger, I like the Kroger better for most things. Heb has a better fish department and cafe and prepared food food department. Kroger has more Natural Foods and less gourmet stuff to tempt me. Kroger improved it's vegetable department so now I can go to either store, but HEB has Chinese veggies. Kroger has more vegetarian products. Whole Foods still has them both beat for organics and the best meat department. Central Market has the best butcher in all of Houston. If you want a restaurant quality steak, that is were you have to go, but for fish HEB or Whole Foods will do. I am just out right lucky now I have these options now just minutes from my house now. And yes they will pose some temptations for a while, or until I get the new bug out of me. I spent some time just learning both stores this week and talking to the store personnel. I asked for a few products to be stocked in both stores and will see who can get the item the fastest. At Kroger I asked for the Vitatop Sugar Free Banana Nut Bread and Vigo Rice and Lentils. At HEB I asked for the Vigo Rice and Lentils. I can't wait to see if either of these stores can come up with these products. Speaking of the Vitatops, I like them as treats because they are not too sweet and have plenty of fiber in them along with added vitamins. I prefer these over the Weight Watcher cakes because they are lower in calories. I decided I needed to have some treats in my diet since I have a sweet tooth. So far these help control me from over eating by keeping my cravings down. I am going to have to set limits on them on how often I can have them though since they take the place of fruit in my diet. Obviously, fruit has more nutrition and thus is better for me. So, I will not want to give up fruit every day for a vitatop. So, I will only have a vitatop every other day. I think this is a good balance.
Got ta go. I am cooking two dinners this afternnoon since I won't be able to cook tomorrow. See ya.

I like Vitatops too, I have to order them online so I only do that a couple of times a year. I hope you realize how fortunate you are to live where you have so many shopping choices. I have never seen fresh fish in our stores and there is very limited choices outside the basic fruit and veggie choices. Hope your surgery goes well!

I've never had Viatops. Are they like a cookie or muffin?
