View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

I did a light work out yesterday to get back into my work out after having surgery on my SI joint Thursday. All felt well. Managed to do a forty minute workout but at a slower pace because I met someone at the gym and we talked as we did our work out. This kept me from over exerting myself since I did my workout for which I am glad. On my own I would have been tempted to over push myself before my body was ready. I really enjoyed having a work out buddy too since I don't have one very often. Work out buddies can make the time fly by. I noticed though I work out harder when I am by myself though because I have no distractions. When I'm with someone I like to talk and not push myself. I will probably learn to do both as time goes by. One thing, though, it surely makes going to the gym a lot more fun when you know a lot more people who can say hi to and have a friendly conversation and some fun with. By the way, my new friend may join CK. So if you meet a person named Merle, say hi to her for me.She is a neat person.
My hubby and I are going on a financial diet to get out of debt. I will be allowed to keep my gym membership as long as I use it 4 times a week. That's the deal from hubby. Talk about motivation to get up to the gym each week. Things will be tight for the next five years but in the end we will be a happier couple. I have waited for a long time for my hubby to make this move. He even apologized to me for getting us into such a mess. Long story. Ok, this is personal, but one must remember I am sharing this to give encouragement to all those who are afraid to face their demons whether it be food or finances or depression or what else is your problem. As a married person I faced my weight problem as a couple not just as a person, so I do this financial situation. My husband and I have worked on our diets together and we knew the next diet we would have to work on would be our money diet. I was waiting for him. He finally came in and sat down and we had the talk. One of the good things to come out of this is that he will be taking his lunch to work every day now with my help. Now, maybe he will work on his diet better with me helping him out now in this area. He spent over 200.00 a month going out to lunch each month and I kept telling him it was such a waste, literally. No wonder he never wanted to take me out to dinner, he was always eating out all ready !!!!!:devil7: :cross1: Anyway, things are changing in my household. I will let you know how things go as we travel down this path.

Thank you for feeling safe to share with us your money diet. Suze Orman made her new book available online to download from Oprah's site. I'm sure it's not there anymore (it was only there a week) but if you'd like a copy I can email the document to you. Send me your home email address in a private message if you'd like it. It's very timely! Our goal for this year is "Live Well on Less". We're both packing our lunches everyday and rarely eating out on the weekends, BUT we're treating ourselves to buying a couple of small NY steaks on the weekend when we would have gone out to eat. All those small changes add up!

I'm glad your surgery went well--keep up with your exercises and recovery will be speedy!

I was really touched by your comment on my blog about my kidney issues. But not to worry--the doc might make them hurt but he can't injure them. The pain is related to little stretch sensors in the kidney capsule, not any kind of damage to anything.

My husband and I have been down the "financial diet" road a couple of times, and every time we've ended up better off. It's sort of like weight loss--we might lose 30 pounds but gain back 10, so we're still down 20 pounds. That eating out is a huge financial black hole--keep for special occasions rather than all the time so the occasions stay special.
