View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

Couldn't sleep to well last night. Today my hubby and I are going to the bankruptcy lawyer to see if we qualify for chapter 7 reorganization or if it would be best to get into a debt management program or a debt settlement program. We are looking into all options at this point. I am hoping for the management option, but we'll see. We will take a means test to see where we stand under the new laws. I couldn't sleep last night and found myself hungry all day as well. It seemed I had this urge to eat constantly and had to remind myself constantly that I couldn't do this to myself. I managed to keep the eating down to a roar. Today I will have to be very careful as to what I eat because I know the urge to emotionally eat will be there again since this is my m.o. when I get nervous about things. I realize I was nibbling on chocolate and carbs all last night when I should have been nibbling on veggies. So, I will take a bag veggies for my snack to make sure I snack on them instead of carbs today. I did get in exercise yesterday which helped. Saturday I also will get in a few miles too which will help since I will be working at my SIL's running event. Exercise helps me at times like this. I'll let you all know how things go. We also have a counciling session with a man at our church who teaches a Dave Ramsey class on financial freedom. He wants us to keep our options open until he talks to us. I do believe God will guide us down the right path and help us through our debt management no matter the road we take. It has taken a long time to realize that we needed to do something. Many of you are trying to get out of debt, and I really do appreciate that you ave mentioned this here. It has given my husband and I the courage to go forth with what we have to do in our lives. We recognize that living without credit cards in our society is a foreign concept, but it's something we must learn to do. Once we pay off ours, I don't plan on ever using them again.
Have a good day and God bless everyone of you.

Hope you get some good advice today. There are so many options and you are most definitely not alone. I am grateful that my husband and I both are leery of carrying credit card debt and we've managed to avoid it during our marriage. When we met he had several thousands of dollars in debt due to getting a divorce, losing his job and having his van get totaled all within a short period of time. It took him a while but he paid it all off. It's all possible!

Hi Lory

Best wishes as you work through this challenge. Kudo's to you for not letting the emotional eating get the best of you - these are the situations that would send me into a tail spin.

I think I'm going to check out Dave Ramsey, too...I have some student loans and a credit card that I would love to get paid off sooner rather than later! Good luck to you and your husband today. Hopefully you will be able to get some sleep tonight after coming up with a good plan!

Lory!! Absolutely keep your options open and listen to the Dave Ramsey plan. I truly beleive that you can do this without a debt management plan or settlement -- which in the end might take the pressure off but will end up costing you more money. Dave's plan is SIMPLE and real, and can be accomplished. More importantly, it teaches you to be open and honest with your spouse about your finances & communications. You can do this. And try to take out your anxiety in your exercise instead of your food...food, temporary comfort will only make you feel worse in the end.
