Monday, Mar 2 2009 - Monday, what more can you say
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Its a typical Monday what more can you say about it. There is work to be done and it's a new diet week to start. The weeks menu has planned out. I am going to more simple dishes this week. I have decided that I need to go back to more simple dishes like the ones I used when I was losing my weight. These are one plain grilled or baked piece of protein, a steamed veggie, and a simple complex carb. I have enjoyed making more complicated meals, but it is harder to keep the calories down and stay within the 300-350 calorie range per meal when doing so. Those meals are great when I am maintaining, but I still need to lose weight. So, while I need to lose weight, I will have to go back to the more basic meals. Occasionally, I can add a meatloaf or casserole type dinner to my week, but the more simple the less calories. I can then fil up on raw veggies and fresh fruit which is how I lost my weight the first time. I do love to cook and will always experiment as you all know so once a week I will cook one fancy meal as a reward dinner for keeping it simple the rest of the week. Maybe this can get me back on track. I will count simple meals that only take three ingredients to put together in this category too as grilled and baked meats won't be eaten every night. Tonight I am making vegetarian tacos with steamed cabbage and my husband will get mexican rice to go with his tacos. I will not eat the rice. Very simple to make the tacos using the Morningside Grillers, tomato sauce and taco seasoning, sauted onions and peppers slapped between an 80 calorie soft shell flour tortilla. Now that's the plan.
My back is healed enough to go back to the gym, so after lunch I'm heading out to go to the gym. I'll start off slow and work up to 30 minutes and see how it feels.
Nothing else new here going on. Weight is steady at 147-149 and has been since June of last year. In some ways I know I am suppose to be getting this weight off, but right now I am thankful I haven't put any back on considering how nervous I am about my life situation right now. Last week was a very scary moment for me as I saw myself almost slip back into some old eating habits as I was really upset over our financial situation. I caught myself in time and stopped eating the house down. The next day I got right back on my diet and started watching what I ate and even nagged my husband who was downing too many sugar free puddings for he same reason. ( he's addicted to sugar free pudding ! ) It is very easy to go to food when I'm nervous so I must NEVER bring treats into the house during rough times. This I have learned for myself.
Have a Good Day and may it be Fruitful.

I had a little mini-binge yesterday-upset over a situation with a friend. Today I am back on track and will not let this one time get me off track or make me feel like a failure. I made a quick & easy vegetarian dish this weekend too (wrote about it on my blog).

Do you eat snacks also? Do you have to eat a lot of protein? I've had problems with hypoglycemia, fortunately not diabetes, but I find that I need protein between meals. 350 seems light for dinner. I don't know how you do it. You have some of the best strategies and self-awareness around, congratulations! I always learn something at your blog.
