View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day

I'm doing much better now. I went to the doctor and he increased my medication for the next three weeks. He told me that people with depression can have an occasional swing of lows when under stress. That made me feel better knowing that because I thought I had the condition beat and was a little flabergasted when I had this bout of lows. I felt like I had done something wrong or felt like such a failure in taking care of myself. My daughter mentioned to me the disease just doesn't always disappears just because we are doing great with treatment. I had hoped it had. It had been months since I had experienced these symptoms. I do feel better now. I also had sinus problems to get over last week along with nursing a sick husband last week. My eating is back to normal now and exercise is getting back to where it should be. I have had a little asthma difficulty lately due to allergies and a slight infection so I can't exercise at full force yet, but I can do some. In fact this week end my daughter came over and we went to the subdivision gym and she taught me some exercises for my body type to strengthen where my particular muscles are weak. She is a trainer and could see which of my muscles were giving out before the others. Then she gave me exercises for those muscles and showed me how to do them without hurting my back. It's neat because I have watched the trainers at the gym and noticed they don't do this as well as she does. The gym trainers tend to just run their clients through the machines where as my daughter is big on form even on the machines and analyzes muscles strengths and weakness. I wish she could train me all the time.
Weight wise I am still holding between 148-150. but am now beginning to cut out evening snacking now. No more getting up in the middle of the night and snacking. I have broken that habit finally again. For a while there I had started that up again for some reason. I have gotten a control on that now. It seems to keep your weight off, you have to be able to get control back when you start to lose control. I have learned now there will be times when I will lose control. There for I will always have to have a strategy to get back into control. Mine was to go back to simple diet as soon as possible for a while and limit my snacks to one or two simple 100-150 calorie snacks a day. So far this worked to get be back on track.
Go to go. I have a horse show to go to tonight. Have a nice night.

I had to increase my meds after my dad passed and I had the hysterectomy, because I felt myself sinking. Now I feel much better, too.

I am so glad that you went to the doctor. There's actually a physiological tendency for the brain to return to the depressive state if it has been there before. I read this a while back. I used to feel the same way, disappointed with myself if it returned. I took it as a failure, when it was not my fault. After a while I learned that it is a condition, much like diabetes, where the body (brain) sometimes doesn't function right. I think it is important to be aware of this and not blame yourself. Instead think of it as a physiological condition that you keep an eye on and take the best care of yourself, getting help with it when you need it. The thing is to become aware of when you start to feel bad, so you can do something about it before it gets worse. Self-monitoring, like with diabetes. It's not your fault!

Take care of yourself!! That is so great that your daughter was able to help you at the gym, I would rather have no trainer then a sloppy one, she sounds like one of the good ones!! I am in a holding pattern on my weight too, but I am not sure I am ready to give up the nighly snack :nono2:

I am very glad you are feeling better. What a nice compliment to your daughter about her training style -- women are so much better about proper form in the gym, because most of them don't care what people think -- and they are just happy to be there!! I hope you know what a strong woman you are...inside, and out!

I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm reading (actually its a CD - so listening) to a very interesting book after watching him on a PBS show) called "The Magnificient Brain at Any Age" by Daniel Amen, a psychiatrist. He talks about nutrition, depression, toxins -- so far a really great book. I think you would find it interesting and very helpful. You definitely have a lot of stress in your life right now.

I am glad you feel better now. Remember that depression is a medical condition, don't blame yourself for it. I've had my share in the past, so I know it's not fun.
