Thursday, Apr 9 2009 - sleep eating ?
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I had a perfect day going until 2am when I got up to take the dogs out. I found myself at the pantry eating a few oyster crackers and dry fruit before I woke up enough to realize what I had done. Habit ???? Can I blame it on the pain killer I had finally decided to give in and take at 12pm that night after my pain had reached a level 15 !!! This is the habit that got me those extra pounds in the first place and before I realized it, I was at it again. I can do this even in my sleep ! Well, I didn't down that many calories, but the fact I can do this without even thinking about half asleep lets you know it is a very ingrained habit that I have established here. I probably will get by with it since I went to bed feeling sick and failed to eat all of the food on my plan that day. I will have to be more diligent when I take pain killers though because I will want to eat when I am in pain.
My rescue dog which we have decided to adopt is sick and needs to go to the vet I took her to the rescue vet on Monday but have not been satisfied with what he said was wrong with her. I want a second opinion. She gets along well with my Xena. Let's put it this way, Xena puts up with her. I make sure Xena still has bed privileges since she is a small dog and we can only sleep with one dog. I house trained her in one day so for a dachshund that is pretty good. She has a mild sweet temperament which is why she gets along with my rat terrier, other wise... For a dachshund she is a typical in that she likes all kids and people, so I don't know if she will make a good watch dog. She does have that dachshund stubbornness when it comes to training though. She will only sit for me if she knows she is going to get a big love reward in return and I will make a big deal about it. It took me two days to teach her to sit and we are still working on it. It took a day for her to feel comfortable to go out the dog door, but that could also be the fact that she is a timid dachshund ( which would be either because she is a rescue or a breed fault ). Once she got the courage to go through the door she now looks to go through anything, including loose fence panels which she found one yesterday between my neighbor's house and mine ! She loves to play catch and loves her plush bed verses the crate we had her in the first days we brought her home in. Belly rubs are a way to her heart, and watching TV is her fav. She will be on one side of me and Xena on the other. Content, she will sleep all the way through the show and sigh as I rub her belly. When My husband saw this, he said we couldn't give her up because he didn't think the dog would now except another home because we had spoiled her with our love an attention. She had just moved right on in and did her best to make friends with our other dog too. Of course they compete for my attention because she seems to know I am her care taker. And then there is the walk. It didn't take any time for that dog to know what the word walk meant and what a leash was ! Xena goes to the door when I say walk and so does Callie. These dogs love to walk and love to play catch ! Ok, maybe this is what I needed in my life right now. I will be busy tomorrow going to a volleyball tournament. My son is in town playing in one this weekend. We will be busy with family all weekend. So, I won't be on line for a few days. Talk to you Monday.
Oh, one good news, hubby did our income tax and we will be getting back enough money this year to pay for custom shoes for me and all the dental work I need. I decided to go custom shoes instead of having the feet operation. The shoes are half the cost and have no recovery period or possibility of complications which for a diabetic is important. My doctors do prefer that I try the shoes first. Unfortunately at 285.00 a pair

i cringe. The good news is these shoes can be re-soled for up to three or four times which means I can get a three to five year life span out of them. The bad news is that I will never be in fashion or be able to wear dresses.

The shoes sound wonderful - am so glad that you can get them. It will be a godsend. AND you can wear dresses - just wear long ones. HAHAHA - I wish we had a dog, but I am much too fussy at keeping it clean - and I will just cause myself more trouble than I need. See you next week. Have a good LOSING weekend. Kel

Sounds like you make as good of a foster parent as I do, which is how I ended up with 7 dogs
:$ NO MORE FOSTERS FOR ME!! It is strange about the late night eating, I wonder if it is because of the pain pills

Ah, Callie sounds like a sweet addition to the family. Glad to read that you are getting back on track and that the depression has lifted.

Congrats on the 2nd dog. it takes a special person to take in a rescue and I hope you get many blessings for it. Have a happy Easter if you celebrate it. Enjoy those nice walks. I find walking with my "baby" very relaxing. Sue
