Thursday, May 28 2009 - clearing the pantry
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I'm cleaning out my pantry and making sure I don't have any tempting crackers, sweets, or cereals in which to blow my diet on. Most of the stuff I buy in this category is actually healthy, but I still have a tendency to take the back and start eating from it on these products which leads to a binge. I am going to just have to not buy things like this for a while until I can get myself under control. Control is what I am working on.
I don't know why I am having such a hard time with control lately. I have all the knowledge I need to be successful. All I need is the desire and the control to carry it out. I get through 95 % of the day just fine, then lose it around bedtime. I need to develop better strategies since the ones I have been using aren't helping.
My dental hygienist has actually helped me out here. Not only do I now have to brush and floss my teeth now, I have to rinse with this special mouth wash that has a certain enzyme in it and apply a moisturizer gel on my gums. I'm not suppose to drink or eat after wards as all of this is to protect my mouth for the night from bacteria and help with my periodontal condition. Now, since I have to do this, I will do this around 8-9pm and see if it keeps me from eating. Just brushing my teeth has never kept me from eating after hours, but this routine is such a hassle I may find myself complying. She also gave me some special gum to chew for after meals ( Biotene gum ) which is for dry mouth and cleans the mouth. I have found this gum helps me when my mouth gets real dry and I would reach for something to eat or suck on to get rid of the feeling. Yea, I would drink too, but sometimes that wouldn't help since I needed salvia.
The training on Callie is progressing. When I take her walks now, she is barking less when we approach people an animals. She doesn't bark at motorcycles or bikers now as we walk !

She still is a little cautious of little children. I can now let her off leash and she will come to me when I call her. I taught her to give me a high five for a treat ( we call it paw ). She is learning tummy rub or roll over. Now, if I can figure out how to teach her not to dog up my yard !!!!!!!!!!!
Have a good day.
