View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I've been holding on even though I haven't felt well this past week. Allergies more than likely have got me feeling run down and kicked up my asthma. It feels like spring rather than the beginning of summer with the trees blooming around here. Any way, I am leveling off on my eating and settling into a patter now. Now it's just a matter of being able to start cutting down on enough calories to lose weight and get in exercise. I have been eating the right foods as that was never a problem. Portion sizes are generally not a problem either since I still measure and weigh my food for carb control. It's what I do at night that has always been a problem.
Since I have now gotten rid of all my treats, I am finding it harder to " find foods to snack on " at night thus I am not snacking at night much any more. This means keeping stuff out of the house is working. If the easily accessible snacks are out of the house, then I am more likely not to snack since I would then have to cook to make myself a snack. Late at night who wants to pop popcorn and wake up the hubby or clean up the kitchen again ! Sure, there is cheese and frozen freezies left, but I can only eat so much of these foods without getting tires of them. So, I don't touch them. The mind game, in other words is working. Yet, I still haven't quite gotten down to that 1250 calorie zone each day in order to lose weight. One victory at a time I keep telling myself.
One area I am doing better at is my weekly church meetings on Friday where food is served, including the desert fellowship after wards. Now, I take my dinner to the fellowship instead of eating what is provided or eat before I go. Then I either bring a snack for the evening or plan on something when I get home that evening. I have told my sponsor and accountability partners why I can not have any sweets. They are helping me out. Some others have also pledged not to eat the goodies for health reasons so I am not alone. This helps me. Since I am to be a leader, I know I must be an example of how God can help us over come our weaknesses. Mine is food addiction. Boy, I get tested every Friday with those treats. I told our leader that the ex alcoholics are lucky. They aren't tempted with bear on the table each week !!!!!
I have taken a few days off to relax with the dogs and do nothing. Dog days I guess you could say. Talk to everyone latter.

Hi Ivory, I hope you are feeling better by now. I haven't been reading/writing blogs lately as much and have missed it! I hope all is well. I love to read your blog -- you are always such an inspiration. I have found that if I save calories to have a treat in the evening, it really helps me. I'm going to have a big bowl of fat free yogurt with fresh raspberries and blueberries in a few minutes. It's filling and not that many calories for a treat that takes a long time to eat.

RE: Meal planning, I try to plan for a week when I do it because I hate running to the store which almost always leads to convenience food!!! //Glad to hear the mind game is working, I find it so much easier to lose weight in the summer, with salads, etc, even though it is summer here pretty much all year! Glad you are finding time to relax!!

I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well, but it sounds like you are making great progress in skipping some extra treats! I need to work on that, too!
=D Enjoy your "dog days" and relax a little so you will be able to feel better!

I've gotten back into the nighttime snacking habit lately myself. I have stopped keeping things around that are good for snacking so now I find myself wandering into the kitchen, opening the fridge and the cabinets and walking out with a confused look on my face. That's better than snacking though! haha!

enjoy your time off!! Getting rid of the junk is the best way to do it, I totally agree with you there. Now to do that myself. It sounds like you are doing really well, baby steps, one day at a time and all that other stuff. You have come a long way. On the blood sugar thing, I DID get sick during the final hour of the GTT. I was at the store wasting time and I thought I was going to pass out, luckily the doctor's office was only about 2 miles away and I made it without any problems. They took my blood, gave me a sucker and told me to go eat. I wish they would have told me what the blood sugar was when I crashed but they didn't.
