Monday, Jul 13 2009 - doing good today
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Today I am doing good on my plan. I started the day planning my menu and so far I have stayed on it even though I have had hunger spots. I had to change up my afternoon snack from the one I planed but so far everything is going all right. My motivation is back. I resisted the cupcakes at a birthday party and didn't feel sorry for myself one bit after wards because I knew Sunday night I would get my chocolate desert that I get once a week if I am good for the weekend. It's not rewarding with food that I am doing. I am allowing myself one desert a week so I don't feel deprived. It will be within my sugar and carb limits as well as calorie limits. I can make a single serving of the Fudge Pudge browning made with yogurt and stay under 120=140 calories and 18 carbs. I substitute this for a fruit serving on Sat. or Sunday during movie time with hubby when he eats his pudding or popcorn.
I'm keeping my menus simple yet managing to have vegetables and fruits in every meals. If I feel hungry I first check my blood sugar to see if I really need the food. If the blood sugar is ok and I don't have a snack planned, I'm not suppose to eat. Now this is a rule I know I am suppose to follow.

Like everyone on a restricted diet it is a hard one to follow especially on that first week. This is where I have a hard time getting going. It's the getting going that is the hardest , but once I can put in a few good days together, I usually do good. Today feels like a day I will succeed.
One hard test will be when my husband comes home and after dinner when he starts to snack. He usually is pretty good about just taking in one snack after dinner.

BUT....during the weekend he can be terrible about snacking !!!!!!!!!!! This drives me crazy when I am trying not to snack and be good. Do any of you have partners in Crime like this !!!!!!! We have come to support each other for the most part, but he will let me get by with anything. I think we need to have a heart to heart about this support thing more.

I agree that getting going is the hardest. If I can get past the hump of being headachy the first couple of days and then hungry about mid-way to the end the first week--I'm home free! It's getting through the first 7-10 days though that trips me up. I'm trying again though. I started back on my non-addictive food plan (NAFP) yesterday.

I totally understand. AND worse, my husband is salty to my sweet, you know? I need my dessert at night, and he will open a bag of chips...I am TERRIBLE about having to have at least one chip from a brand new bag (and he is awesome about handing me the bag FIRST!) -- adjusting back "down" to a "restricted" diet is hard, but once you get used to not "allowing" yourself so much food, it gets easier. What did you decide to do about WW?!

So, I just finished reading Day 7 of Beck's Diet Solution and the answer to the snack problem with your hubby is in there. Ask him to keep the snacks away from you and no where you are. You are worth it. Try to buy and make healty snacks rather than the old ones. Hope you don't mind me sharing with you. -----------
:) I have a hubby like your's he is on the SEE food diet. So I have made him realize that I just don't eat the same food as him. Although he is not a cook - and he is 71 he has really stepped up to the stove and started to prepare his own meals. I usually make a main dish that he like and he eats on it all week with his egg noodles and oily bean salad while I have vegetables, salad and fish or chicken. He is really doing well at it. Thank goodness!

One of the things you are already doing is in that book, too. You are not limiting yourself to NO DESERTS and you are planning ahead for it. That way you look forward to your special desert and you are able to resist all other sweets if you say - I am going to have that Fudge Pudge because I have been on target all week. Good for you
So now the question is: What is Fudge Pudge and are you willing to share the recipe. Kel

You are a rock resisting cupcakes
:tongue8: Dennis is a big snacker too but I usually buy him snacks that I don't like. He gets in trouble when he eats three of my pre-portioned healthy snacks though
