Sometimes my ancient computer drives me mad because it is soooooo slow. My friends wanted me to get onto Facebook so they could contact me. So, I tried, but have found it not very satisfying since I have a very slow computer. I can see eating up large portions of my day just waiting on my computer to go from sight to sight. I barely have enough time to do my CK stuff, much less get around the blogs here. I prefer this sight where I can get help with my diet. Just shooting the breeze is ok, but here is a little more productive. I shoot the breeze here to, but I also talk shop with people that have a keen understanding of what I'm going through.
I bumped into an airline stewardess at my last dr. appointment yesterday. I asked her how she kept her weight down with all the traveling she has to do. She told me she takes a bag of traveling food with her where ever she goes. This not only keeps the money budget from getting out of control, but keeps her waist line from getting to big. She packs tuna packs, crackers, granola bars, nuts, dried fruits, cereal, cheese sticks, what ever she is going to eat on her three to four day trip. It sure made me feel good to know that a seasoned traveler suggest taking food with you to the airport so you don't have to buy food there. She said saving money was not her only concern, but trying to stay healthy and keep her weight down which would be difficult if she ate out all the time.
As a diabetic, I am taught to take food on road trips because emergencies can happen. One trip, my plan got delayed until late at night and ALL the restaurants and food places in the airport had closed down for the night by the time our plane had come in. People where starved as they got off the plane and had to wait another hour or two for our connecting flight. Except for little O' me who had a can of tuna and crackers in her carry on. As I munched away I could here some people groan, " why didn't I think of that ". That got me through the next few hours until we made it home.
Weight Watcher meeting was good today. I was encouraged that I lost two pounds over the last two weeks. I still am wavering between points and counting calories, but at least I am aware of cutting back. My goal for going out of town will be to stay even. When I get back, I will continue with the diet. Right now my number one bad habit is staying up late and watching TV. With this habit comes food snacking and sometimes binging. If I would just go to bed like a good girl, I could avoid all of this and also get the rest I need. I would also have the energy to get up and get out of the house and go to the gym for exercise earlier in the day. This requires a lifestyle change in attitude !!! My husband and I have talked about this. DO any of you have bad habits that keep you from a healthy lifestyle change ? Well this is one that is hindering me from making two goals.
One goal is to stop eating and binging at night. Obviously, I only do this late at night when I stay up to watch TV past my bedtime. ( sometimes it's because I'm in pain and can't sleep...no excuse, but that is the one I use ) The second goal is to exercise five days out of the week. Well, how can I when I am tired all of the time ! I often will fall asleep while watching TV to only have my husband come in and nudge me and tell me to come to bed !

You think he is getting tired of this ! Yep !!!! I am telling my sponsor and accountability partners how I will, must change my habits. I will let you know over the next months how I do in changing YEARS of bad sleeping and eating habits.
By the way, this bad habit started when I developed frozen shoulders and had to sleep in the living room easy chair with my shoulders propped up just to get some sleep. I would turn on the TV to ease the pain to put me to sleep. For any of those who have ever suffered from frozen shoulders or rotator cuff injuries, you will know you can't sleep laying down for months until your shoulders heal, which can take up to a year. In that years time I developed a very bad habit of sleeping in a chair when I can't sleep. OK, just a side story...
