I read a fact today that got me to thinking. 66 % of people who lose weight will regain their weight within a year, and almost all the weight is regained within five years. That means only 44% keep that weight off five years or longer ! I have managed to keep 80 of my 90 pounds off for three years...and I'm still trying to get the last 30 off. That includes that 10 I put back on. This has led me set a realistic goal. I want to have at least 20 pounds off in two years and keep it off fro five. Thus, I am committed to CK for another 7 years as part of my support team as well as my First Place for Health Bible study.

That seems like a long time to commit to something, but I finally realized I have a major under taking going on here that won't be settled in a year or two. If,I want to succeed, I will have to work at this for a while according to statistics. I know myself all too well. This last year was real tough. It will take me a whole year to recover from this bad year. I'm just now getting my eating, emotions, and habits under control once again. Life is never a constant, so I imagine I will always have to work at this thing. Why was I ever thinking it would just take a few years to get myself under control or to master myself ? Well, realistically, I am now taking, or going to allow myself no specific time line. The one I stated is just a guesstimate or a place I would like to be in the future so I won't dalie around and not lose the weight.

Mastering our "demons" is a lifetime project. I think the people who gain back their weight so quickly haven't done that--they've just pushed the demons away for a while by focusing on weight loss. When they get there they don't know what to do and go back to what feels comfortable.

that is why they call it a lifestyle and not a diet!! I really don't know if I could keep my sanity without the CK sounding board. The last time I renewed I wished they offered a lifetime membership because like it or not, I will be here for a long time to come. OK, I miss your blogs a lot of the time because for some reason you always show up at the bottom of my favorites under blogs that haven't updated in a few hours/days. I am lazy and scrool down to the last updated blog and miss yours. A few days will go by and I find myself wondering about you and you will have a brand new blog :bang: not sure what that is all about.

:hi: I am always amazed when people say You're still doing WW - well, Yes, I am. But you're so THIN -- ok, how do you think I STAY that way. The problem with 'most people' -- that make up the statistic is that they think once they lose the weight they can stop, whatever it was they did to get there. Thats why most programs preach -- lifestyle not a diet. //Because if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. //I love your self reflections and it is nice to see you here.
