Monday, Mar 1 2010 - blow gentle girl
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
For those of us who suffer the year round sniffles, it is a wise thing to learn the art of how to blow gently even when the temptation is to give it all you have. The doc said it would not have done any good but probably put a hole in my ear, which I have done before. With a cortisone shot in the bu** , and a slew of RX's in my pocket that I was sure was going to cost me, I walked out of that ENT's office not feeling any better. Maybe in five days I will get some relief from the drugs he gave me. I did a romper room no no that afternoon as a felt like !^^$+)$$, I saw some of my fav Russell Stovers' Nougie Nutty Chews at the Pharmacy and gave in. Thankfully, I am not this sick everyday and not in this kind of pain either. Hopefully I can get a good night's sleep and forget about today. Other than that one slip, food was very healthy.
It was raining when I started to cook dinner. Therefor, it was going to be a no go on grilling my salmon. There was lightening, so I was not going out there to grill. My crazy hubby grills in the rain if there is no lightening ! I would not let him do that tonight !!!!!!! Instead, I put the fish in a foil pack on some cabbage and onions, then drizzled some olive oil and seasoning. It took the fish around 25 minutes before it came out nicely steamed. The fish did not dry out since the veggies provided the moisture. My hubby now doesn't mind fish cooked in the oven. Before, he had fish roasted and had it come out dry and didn't like it. He also didn't like it when I put a sauce on it and baked it. He only liked it grilled. GO figure. Men can be so picky. How do you prefer your fish ? I will admit as a kid, I hated fish.
My mom would bake the entire fish, bones and all. I would have to pick out the bones because she didn't know how to cut up the fish ( filet ) it for serving. Now, my Japanese and Chinese friends have since taught me the art of eating a whole fish, but as a kid I didn't know it. Mom also over cooked the fish usually. Other than that, I almost enjoyed the fish, but wouldn't admit. In Dallas though, it was rare to get fresh fish back then. Times have changed, and I am glad. The fish we can get hold of here even down in Texas are the same around the rest of the country. Of course I have moved close to the gulf now, which means a lot of fresh fish, but I wouldn't touch the fish from the Gulf nor shell fish. Go figure. Any way, I am now a fish eater. WHOO HOO

In Italy and Singapore I was served whole fish on several occasions. They were always delicious but I never knew how to eat them. I love fish now but didn't like it until I was older! As a kid the only way it was ever served to me was catfish fried in a cornmeal batter. That kind of fish I don't like! After I tasted some red snapper grilled I became a fan of fish!
