View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
I read today that true weight loss success is getting down to your goal and keeping it off for five years. Only 5% of people who participate in ALL weight loss programs make that goal according to some statistical guru. Well, I have never made it to my goal in my three years of trying. I lost 90 and gained 20 back. This means to be where I want to be, I must lose at least 28 pounds and keep it off for five years. I want to do this in two years. My hubby reminded me that's only 1.5 pounds a month ! Now that doesn't sound so insurmountable. This has given me a new out look on how I will approach my next few years. I will approach them as if I'm training for a marathon.
I realize it will take time to lay the foundation of training down to be successful for a maintenance of five years after the final weight loss. So, I ill concentrate on saying no and stop it to temptation. I will practice getting up every morning an exercising so it will become a way of life and not an occasional habit. I will learn to be content with eating less and BUYING less. ( no shopping for the good deals, only for what I need each week, so I won't over buy and over eat ! ) I could go on with my training list, but I'm starting out simple, just like an athlete in training.
I will continue the good habits that got me this far. Calorie counting, eating properly, exercising etc. I will add to that what I have learned on sabatical from CK his year while attending Celebrate Recovery and First PLace 4 Health Bible Studies, to put the Lord first and lean on Him for strength. There is SO much I could talk abut in this area of healing that has made a difference...
A new journey for sure awaits me. This one will be real interesting. Maybe even more interesting than that first one.

I buy things that aren't on my shopping list all the time and really need to stop that. It affects the pocketbook and the waist!

I really like your comment about about buying less (not shopping for the good deals). I think that those sales often motivate us to buy things that we normally wouldn't be eating. Thanks for the tips on water jogging...I love just floating around in the pool on a hot summer day, but realize I need to be much more physical to burn some calories! I'm so happy to be able to witness your journey here on CK through your blogs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and encouragement!

Lori! Thank you so much for your kind words. I am coming up on 7 years at my goal weight. That's not to say that I haven't been as much as 20 lbs over at one point or another (like when I moved to FL 5 years ago) -- but I've always gone back. Also, it took many tries at 'dieting' before I had that straw that broke the camels back moment and walked into WW for the final time, determined to get it done. You have such drive and determination, and you've had such success in the face of so many health challengs, I have NO DOUBT that this is going to be your time to make your goal and stay there!
