Thursday, Aug 5 2010 - dealing with hunger
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
So far my biggest problem that I am going to have to learn to deal with is pacing my food out so I won't get hungry. Once I learn how to do this I think I will be ok. The middle of the morning, 4pm, and 10pm are my hungry zones. I know I need to plan for snacks to deal with these times. Most of the time I manage to do this, but sometimes my meal planning isn't perfect. Then there are the times when I just don't seem to get the right snacks that satisfy the hunger bug. I also have found that I am incredible hungry in the morning and really want a big breakfast.
I was really surprised at how hungry I was in the morning and how my body wanted a mid morning snack. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since eating breakfast is supposed to rev up your metabolism as it was explained to me this weekend. At night a small snack will do, so something like jello is adequate, or even popcorn will do. Some experts actually promote not eating carbs late at night.Don Colbert in his book " I Can Do This Diet " recommends eating lean protein and vegetables for a late night snack since our bodies do not need the energy that high energy carbs provide at night. It makes sense because the small amount of carb in the vegetable and the protein is just enough to quench hunger and stabilize blood sugar.
