Sunday, Aug 22 2010 - keeping up with hubby
View MOUGHI's food & exercise for this day
Now since my hubby is running, it is hard to keep up with him. He has all of this energy and happiness to him that he hasn't had in a while. I can't stop him from talking about his new found love of running in fact ! This was the man who never exercised or would go bike riding with me, play softball with me, or walk the dog with me. He would have rather stayed home and played on the computer or read a book, or watched TV. I was always the one going to the gym or out playing sports, unless you want to count the time we were on a bowling league together wwhen we were first married. He also made excuses as to why he couldn't exercise.
My ankle hurts or will hurt is I walk because of my operation on it. That didn't fly with me of course and I told him he couldn't use that on the queen of physical therapy sessions. THen there was the the excuse, " runnining or walking will hurts my back ". Ok, I could buy that, but he was talking to his wife who has seen his x-rays and has talked to his doctor ! My back is worse than his !Sorry, couldn't pull that one on me either. I never let him get buy with thise excuses and just said, " Honey, if you ever exercise you will be surprised to learn what a difference it will make in your life. You are just making up excuses because you don't want to exercise. " Well, the day came when he finally stopped the excuses and gave it a try.
He is a strong man and has strong lungs. He is just out of shape, but with a good working plan provided by our son-in-law, he started off wisely and slowly, walk two minutes and then run two minutes. And so for the last six weeks he has gradually increased the time and duration from two minutes to nine, from one block to 1 mile.

I tried to send you a PM but I got an error?
The website for the mud run is http://www.tatur.org/MudRun.html
it was so much bigger than we could have ever imagined. Last year we had 950 finishers!!
The course itself was a hay climb into a mud pit, a tire run/hot house, muddy hill climb, belly crawl (under flags) and the tire thingy like on the picture. It was a 3K, they went through the most of the pits twice with the exception of the slip and slid, that was the finale and crowd favorite. You can see the rest of my pictures at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=202037&id=841273807&l=5e8b08e8d8 I don't have as many as I normally would (scary right) because I got mad and left before the muddy people could walk around.
We charged extra for timed heats, the timing people charged us so we passed it to them, we had two timed heats. All of the heats were spaced 30 minutes apart, which seemed to be plenty of time.
The kids run was only about a quarter mile, we had smaller versions of the adult obstacles and used a few of the adults. Kids were 5-12, we let the big kids go and then about 10 minutes later let the little kids go. I had to stand at the top of the hill and make the kids stop running back up the hill and sliding down again.
Have your daughter email me if she has any questions, [email protected]
Oh, and yes I do have a tattoo on my foot, it is the finishers medal for the marathon!!
