View MSTEECHUR's food & exercise for this day

I swear, since coming home from New York I have been SO busy it isn't even funny!

Tuesday night (after getting home) I had Open House at work, so I had to work until 9 p.m. Then Wednesday I just tried to recouperate. This weekend I had a 30 mile bike ride/3 mile brick on Saturday, which was really nice. A brick is a bike/run or swim/bike or swim/bike/run workout that helps prepare you for a triathlon.

Sunday was a half marathon. It went very well for my first one back since surgery. I initially met up with Laura and Linda, but wasn't really in the mood to run with anyone. I just didn't want to hold anyone up. Plus I work with Linda, so sometimes running with her on long runs like that we have nothing to talk about, but I don't feel okay putting my headphones in. So my initial plan was to just run alone and listen to my podcasts and music.

Then three miles in I ran into Lisa and Jenny at the porta potties. I stopped to chat and then we went on together. Normally I do run/walk, but not this time! Worked out very nicely. We all had a LOT to talk about it, and it sure did make the time go by fast! The course was VERY hilly, including one nasty LONG one at mile 12. What in the world is up with THAT!? Evil course! EVIL!

Yesterday I took a much needed rest day from exercise. Today I was back at it, though. I swam this morning 2200 yards and hit 2:14 and one 2:03 100 yard set! That's HUGE for me! I am such a slow swimmer!

After work I picked up Dash and ran with him for 6.5 miles. My calorie burn is down, which means I'm getting my full fitness back. I even started doing ab work last night. Wow, that hurt! But it has to be done. I need to rebuild my core strength for my back.

I am REALLY tired tonight.

You are really back! Look at all that good stuff. I can't imagine a hill at mile 12 - I'm so glad my first 1/2 is in nice, flat Indy! My second, however, is scheduled for the Outer Banks and those bridges look killer!

Core is GREAT, check out the latest Running Times for some really good moves. Awesome about the brick...sounds like fun! It's good to get your legs used to going from one sport to another. Were you going for time at the half mary? Where was it?
