Saturday, Mar 20 2010 - Mmmmm donuts..... DOH!!!!
View NEXUSNRG's food & exercise for this day
It's been a while since I posted in my blog. I've actually gotten a private message asking me about it. I apologize to those who read and enjoy it for my absence. I've found that if I don't come on here and post in my journal it usually means that I've had an unexpected undesired result in my weight loss for the week.
Last Monday we celebrated my Dad's 75th birthday and took him to Bass Pro Shop to buy him a bunch of muzzle loading supplies and to eat at the fish restaurant they have in the store. Naturally they don't have nutritional values so I had no way of realistically counting calories. I had a 4 oz Mahi grilled, and a crab cake, with skewered grilled shrimp. I took my best guess at the calories. Well I didn't go over for the day because I severely cut back eating the rest of the day, yet I didn't lose any weight from the previous week, I was still 395 lbs. Then on Tuesday of this last week I weighed in at 394 Lbs and used that as my weigh-in. I've been fluctuating on the scale all week long since then. Then this morning something bad happened.
A bondsman who was coming to bond out some of my prisoners decided to bring a box of glazed doughnuts from the best donut shop ever! I haven't had donuts from this place in 6 months. And one of my biggest weaknesses are, yup, you guessed it, DOUGHNUTS! I cursed him, and he just laughed it off. The smell of freshly made (less than 2 hours old) doughnuts were impossible to resist. I had three! THREE! T H R E E!!!!!!!!!FREAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!DOUGHNUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly 1 minute after eating them all I realized that I had just consumed about 600 calories, which is 100 calories more than what one complete meal for me would be in my 1500 calorie diet. I was so angry! I went home and weighed myself, YUP 399.4 LBS!!!! GEEEEZUZ!HOLYCRAP!
I drank some water, and went to bed, that was at 8am this morning, and I woke up at 2pm and used the bathroom and re-weighed again and now I'm back down to 395.2 Lbs, so had a big sigh of relief, but had I not eaten those 3 doughnuts I might of been 390 or 392 lbs right now instead of back to 395. So now I have to cut back my food for the rest of the day just to stay green. There was a time when I would of ate 6 of those doughnuts at once and not think twice about it.
I have exactly 1 1/2 days until my weekly weigh-in and I have great doubt that I'll lose anything. I hope I'm going to be wrong, but I just can't see me going below 394 by monday now. So for the next 1 1/2 days I'm going to increase my veggies, ans salads and eat very little meat/fish/chicken and try to get to at least 393 lbs.
Past couple of weeks have really sucked weight loss wise, but I'm not giving up, I'm not slowing down, I'll get through this period of slow loss. I have nearly a year to make it to my goal weight, so I'm going to just keep plugging away. A co-worker is suppose to be getting his gym membership this week and we've decided to train and work out together. He plans to motivate me and sort of take me under his wing at lifting weights and doing cardio. So I'm going to take advantage of that. I'm ready.. I need to move on to the next level and start exercising now...

Man you've come really far. I know you are working hard, but this isn't a race to lose all the weight you've taken years to gain in 2 weeks. Not to use going gung-ho on my doughnuts as a pat on the back for hard work though....
I've slipped up myself in the recent weeks. It's bound to happen like an alcholic giving up liquor. Now I know there are some things I just gotta stay away from. Now you will need to rethink the strategy for when buttholes bring in yummy freaking doughnuts. Jerks. Grrr... I've slipped up on some cheesecake myself, I love me some cheesecake.
One day slip up doesn't ruin your whole several months of progress... AND you are still working on doing well and didn't give up, SO you deserve a HUGE pat on the back for that!!! Way to go!! And keep blogging, good or bad. We miss ya!!!

You guys are right... I know 3 doughnuts aren't going to add those pounds on. Well I'm actually down today, 393 lbs so I'm 1 lb below last week's weight. I still have tomorrow to go.
:)
I contribute this from not getting a green check. I've been staying in the blue the past 2 days. I won't be having the doughnuts again for quite some time. But I'm still going to have my chocolate cake for my birthday next week.
Thanks for the comments, they're always appreciated!

Dude, when 3 donuts equals 9000 calories then you can blame them for the fluctuation in the scale. Isn't it funny how when we indulge in something what we consider naughty we think the scale is going to jump up to some ungodly number. You ate them, realized what was happening and adjusted your behavior accordingly...that's how we do it!

And for future reference, freshly made donuts are NOT impossible to resist. Just.Don't.Eat.Them. Let some chump eat them. You care too much about your journey to let some crappy ass donut get in the way.
You know what that donut already tasted like. Do you know what being a healthy weight taste like? Cause that's what we're shooting for now.
We're gonna do this. We're gonna be successful. One donutless day at a time!

Wow you did really well "repairing" the day after donuts. I give you a gold star for not running with the donuts but exerting some control so you came in for calories. I think that is the way to handle life's temptation. Don't worry about the weight loss slow down, it happens to everyone after the first twenty or thirty pounds. Starting to workout will undoubtedly spur you on to your goal.
Good for you for not losing it after the donuts!!

Oh, the evil doughnut. I understand the draw. At one time in my younger days I went on a doughnut kick for about a week. It was ugly. I had to change the grocer I was using because the doughnut shop was next door.
Yeah, the slow down does stink. My rate has slowed to a crawl as well. I was just thinking today that it is time to add exercise to get to work up some momemtum. So we will be tortoises instead of hares but we will finish the race none the less.
