Feeling kind of depressed today. All this past week I've not been able to lose any weight and the scale has actually been climbing, despite the fact that I have steadily kept my diet pretty much the same and remained close to my 1500 calorie target each day. It started when I had hurt my foot last week and was bed ridden for almost 4 days I had dropped to 379 Lbs, and then when I started eating again (I didn't eat first 2 days because of the pain) I guess I started to put weight back on from lack of movement etc. The Scale started to go up to 385 Lbs, and then it would drop down, and then I went back to work on Tuesday. Wednesday morning I went back to the gym and worked my butt off. Thinking that this surely would boost my weight loss for the week.
Well Thursday I didn't lose, in fact I went back to 385 Lbs. Friday it didn't go down but one lousy pound, and I've been yo-yo between 382 and 384. This has never happened before since I started this. Usually if I gained from the prior week it would go back down to my weigh-in weight by the 4th or 5th day, and by the 7th day I'd be at least 1 lb below.
Everyone I've talked to seems to think it's muscle. Which I suppose could be true because my workouts consist of nothing but 1 1/2 hours of constant circuit free weights/machine weights lifting. I just didn't expect or think only 4 or 5 times at the gym already building enough muscle mass to start to add to the scale. I was thinking that with so much fat to lose I would lose the fat quicker than build muscle. I don't know, but damn it If I eat any less I will starve myself. I'm taking a water pill prescription for retention every day and I'm drinking as much water as I possibly can so I don't think it's sodium. I'm as a loss, but it looks like tomorrow during weigh-in I'm going to be putting my number back above last week's weigh-in. It's depressing. I hate having a stalled week, but now even more so going in the opposite direction!

Jimmy, don't get down. This happens in the numbers game. I've been at the same weight number since Oct. That isn't fun but I know I am much healthier than what I was when I started and even healthier and LEANER than what I was in Oct. Keep moving forward you WILL see progress. Have a hug....

Awww Jimmy. I'm sorry it took me a few days to get here and read your post. Life is so...well it just is right now. Do not let the lack of movement keep you from moving forward brother! You've lost a lot of weight so far and there could be so many different reasons why you didn't see a loss this week. I remember someone told me about not letting this journey be about the number, but about getting stronger and healthier. Oh wait, that was you.
You keep going to the gym. You stay steadfast on the calories. The body will catch up. (((((hugs))))))

The gym has been playing evil tricks on my scale too. People just keep telling me to keep it up and your body will follow. I was up 3Ibs on Friday and got on the scale and had lost them yesterday but I dont count it until Friday so here is to hoping it stays! Keep up the good work!

Weighed myself this morning when I woke up and I'm back to 380 Lbs, so that's what I logged. No loss, but also no gain from last week. I'll take it, and just move on.
I do chart my measurements for waist, and I have lost 4 pants sizes since beginning in January, but I'm still wearing my start size pants. I just punched knotch #2 in my belt a few minutes ago, because the knotch I had punched in them a little over a month ago is has them too loose. I know I'm making progress, it's just all psychological seeing the scale do what it does.
Thanks for the comments. I actually hadn't been paying attention to my charts for the past month or so, so yeah my fats/carbs/proteins are out of wack a little. I guess I'll have to tighten up and get back to eating more fish and chicken and more veggies, and more fat-free foods.

Slow weight loss sometimes makes me fustrated. I got used to losing about 2/3 lbs a week. All of April I lost 1 each week and it all started with a crummy 4 lb gain at the start of the month.
 Keep plowing ahead!!!! It's just a crummy week and everyone has those at times! It's what makes weight loss a journey!
Muscle weighs more then fat so you could be gaining muscle. Like Sheetal said, maybe you should start to take measurements. I bet you will see changes there. Really weight loss is important, but lowering the waist size is the most important.
Also your body gets used to certian movements over time, so switch up the excercise a little.

How about switching it up a bit with what you eat not the calories. You are eating 36% fat which is pretty high: more protein, less fat, more vegies?
My son is a weight lifter/personal trainer and he has an above normal BMI for his height because of his muscles, and believe me there is no fat on him. So I think you could be adding muscle too.

The muscle gains make sense. If you aren't doing any supplemental cardio, you won't see as much fat loss on the scale (though you are converting existing fat to muscle now).
Sorry you're kind of stagnating - I know it's depressing, but now might be a better time to start taking measurements and see what those look like instead. I'm sure your body is transforming with the weights.
