View NEXUSNRG's food & exercise for this day
I feel like an idiot. I had typed out like a 9 paragraph blog entry this afternoon, then I got side tracked before I could finish it up and walked away from the computer. Then when I did return I forgot that I wasn't finished with it and had some where to go so I turned off the computer and left home.
I just got back home (5 hours later) and went to see if anyone had commented on my latest blog entry only to have no new messages. Hmm, scratching my head. I went to go look at my blogs and discovered it wasn't there. DOH'!!!! I thought for a moment and recall that I don't remember ever clicking save. ANYHOW. . . . . . .
Today's weigh-in was 376 Lbs so that's official now. Sunday I went to the gym after work and had my ass handed to me pretty much. Let me just say that I HATE THE TREADMILL! I Spent one full hour in the gym, 25 minutes of free weights, and 35 minutes on the treadmill. Brandon started me off with an incline of 11 which is the highest it'll go and he kicked the speed up to 3.0! ARE YOU NUTZ!?!? I about fell off the damn thing. I ended up dropping the speed down to 1.5 and dropped the incline down to a 1. He wasn't too happy. He'll have to get over it, there is no way I can start off like that.
I'm a person who hasn't walked in over 4 years. I've been sitting down during that entire time, my body is not use to walking yet. So I ended up walking at a speed of 2.5 with an incline of 2 for the first 25 minutes, and then I'd go up to speed 3.0 and increase the incline little by little. I was managing to keep my HR in the upper 140's and low 150's. When I walk at 2.0 on no incline my HR is right at 140. But doing that other stuff shot it up. I had planned on just walking 20 minutes, but he pushed me to go one more minute, and then again one more minute... Then 30 minutes was done and he took it down to a slow cool off rate. After I caught my breathing I brought it back up to 2.5 with an incline of 2 and went another 3 minutes finishing up at 35 minutes on the damn thing.
Did I mention how much I hate the treadmill????? I'm going back in the morning, and I dread it right now. I really let myself go bad bad bad. I could kick myself in the butt for letting me get out of shape. I was always fat/obese but I was always pretty physically active, and never winded. Right now I'm tripping up and stumbling just to keep up. I know this too will pass. I can't wait to get to that point in time.
I need to find a full body picture of myself when I was still in the upper 400's and post it as my before picture. I still can't notice any difference in the mirror. I have so much mass that these changes are very subtle and mostly hidden by clothing.

I had planned to go back today but the antibiotics I'm on for this tooth infection had other plans, got sick. I feel better now but itching all over. This stuff sucks!
Going to get back into the gym as soon as I can and work on the treadmill more. That right now is my biggest challenge, and my biggest pain in the butt. Only because I'm so not use to walking controlling my breathing is difficult.

Brother that says 376!!!!!!
You may feel like you had your ass handed to you but I'd say you took that treadmill and made it your b*tch! I'm so proud of you for getting to the gym. I remember when we both we're like - oh hell no - and look at you now!!!
Dude, you are about to cross over the 50 pound mark! I love you Jimmy and am just so stinkin proud of you! Don't dread and don't you dare beat yourself up for letting yourself go. That was in the past and you are heading toward your future. Some day you're going to look back and laugh at how hard it was in the beginning...

Yeah 3 for someone that hasn't been walking on a tread for some time, not good. Heck I just did the 3 miles myself the other day (the next I did 4) on a regular track and it kicked my butt seriously. Kudos for going at it, and for going to the gym! The stumbling will pass!

You are doing great! I too hate the treadmill. Mainly because I prefer to walk/run outside.
As for seeing a change: it will surprise you. I really don't *see* the change in my body, but then I tried on some MUCH smaller clothes that fit. I'm only now beginning to be aware of changes in my face that others say is dramatic. We know ourselves so well that we have trouble seeing past our mind's eye.
