"As I ate the pizza with it's strong taste of the tomato sauce and it's faint taste of herb that the cold soda washed away, leaving only the taste of grease and the succulent texture of the cheese, and as I ate the bread from each slice and washed it down with the crisp taste of the soda, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and make plans."
I was thinking about Ernest Hemingway how he never forgets to describe exactly how things taste. I like that, and so I wondered what he might say had he been describing pizza.
All last week I craved pizza and I fought the urge because I didn't want to potentially cause an issue with my weigh-in which was today. So this morning around 8 AM I woke up hungry and knew I had a dentist appointment at 1:30 PM. I also knew that I wouldn't be able to eat anything for lunch, and probably not until 7 or 8 PM or until the numbness wore off. So I went ahead and treated myself to two Red Baron Singles pizzas. Even though that was 820 calories, I'll be lucky if I consume my entire 1500 calories for today because my next and possibly last meal for the day will be baked Tilapia with low-fat crab cake and fresh roasted vegetables.
A few days ago a friend of mine asked me how come I didn't have any recent photos of myself online. I've always been self-conscious of my body and image, and do not like what I see in the mirror. It's weird because my interpretation of how I see myself in my mind is totally different than how I actually look. So after thought I decided one night to take a new picture of myself and the above is my result. I was bored at work and had nothing else to do so I took a pair of handcuffs and thought it would make an interesting picture, some how distracting from my distaste in self portraits.
Some of you may not be aware that I work for a fairly large city and police department in Mississippi so I have access to many pairs of hand cuffs. One of my many jobs is to control prisoner access into and out of the holding cells and booking. I'm also responsible for processing all arrested person's paperwork and the swearing into court all affidavits and traffic tickets. My title is deputy court clerk, but I work for the police department, so I'm some what of a liaison between the police and court. I'm also the first person you speak to when calling the non-emergency line to the police, and the first you speak to when coming into the police department. And that's the mystery behind that new profile picture. One day I hope to not be camera shy.

w00t! I'm hot!! Yes hand cuffs are very hot and sexy...
I would love for one day someone to come up with a 12" pizza that is under 400 calories. Until then I have to do things like limit it to only every once in a while. I think the next time I'm grocery shopping I'll look for the ingredients to make a home made one that is low-cal.

Duh... not the photo... the guy in the photo silly
:thumbu2: Looking good!!! Well you know handcuffs are also kind of hot in that funky way
=D
=D
You could even try it on a pita or tortilla.... I made little ones this morning if you look at my diary. I used a slimwich, 1 serving of pizza sauce and 1 serving of cheese 211 calories!!!
I know 1 serving of cheese isn't as fun but after time you get a little used to it, plus you still get the pizza taste!
Try the bread recipie sometime, it's really easy to make that dough and one big round one ends up as 200 calories. For a good dinner if you pile that with 1 serving of sauce, peppers and even 2 servings of cheese it ends up being under 400 calories and it's really filling.
Because of your quote there I had to eat my mini pizza for breakfast. Sigh... gosh I love pizza. When I die and go to heaven there will be no calories in pizza.

Sheetal my meals aren't really that special, but taste is very important to me. I'm just glad I can find stuff that isn't rabbit food and still lose weight.
Mike where were you stationed? I'm a former afbrat, my dad was a 2E1X3 master instructor and I spent 3 years with law enforcement explorers on keesler with the 3380th SPS. I also work very closely with SFS every day in my capacity since my station is a rock's throw away from the base.

I used to augment for the Security Forces (Law Enforcement) when in the Air Force. I still keep a pair of handcuffs handy in my car. You never know when you are going to need to cuff a buddy to the fence.
:)
The unofficial motto of my flight was "It's all fun and games until somebody pulls a gun." Back story on that was a Staff Sergeant was getting pranked until he had enough and pulled his 9mm out. Needless to say, the fun and games ended right there.

Leslie, the photo is hot, or the guy in the photo is hot? heh...
:P
:)
I still say I'm going to try making a low-cal pizza, the cheese is the worst part of it all, and unfortunately the focal point for me because I am in love with the stuff. I guess if I can cut the calories in the dough or bread used and use fresh veggies and control the cheese amount it'll be worth it. I know you're a pizzaholic so I thought you'd find the quote about pizza amusing.
Marjorie thank you! You called it, I'm a ham, some times at least.

Your profile picture gave me a smile!
=D The handcuffs are of course a central piece of it since your hands are in the forefront, but the look on your face seals it. You are definitely photogenic (and a bit of a ham!) Jimmy!

I like the photo, it's hot (or funny depending on the way you look at it.)
Ok ok I am stuck up with my pictures. I think I take a lot of self portraits because I can see my face change in them. Plus it's the only part of me that I like. I am self conscious about every part of my body and think I look horrible. I always feel, well at least my face is photogenic!
I love pizza! I try to make my own at home. Either take an english muffin or pita bread and spread a little sauce on it, then pile up the veggies! I usually use a slice of munester cheese, mozz or swiss and put it on the top and bake it. You can also use shredded but don't use a mass amount!
My boyfriend and I were doing a pizza blog but it's pushed to the wayside. I never put the calories on there but I'll have to look at home. here is one of the pizzas I make
http://nwigoodslices.wordpress.com/2010/06/09/aesh-baladi-pizza/
the site got pushed because i am working on a collection of my recipies so far here is what I have, right now it's a lot of pictures and only a recipie for a low calorie Bleack bean chicken taco that is out of this world! http://delectatiocolligo.wordpress.com/
As far as the Skinny Cow, it's not fair that they are so far away. I know at the grocery store out by me they never carried them. I requested that the manager get it and let him know that people that are watching what they eat would love them. He got in 1 kind of sandwich first... and now they carry the whole line! Maybe try to talk to a manager at the store?

Debs I'm glad you like the new picture, I didn't know if I should put it up here but it sounds like it works. I think inside I'm photogenic, I'm a ham, but outwardly I don't like my looks so I don't like pictures of myself. I have a couple of pictures from last November before I really started doing anything and my face was so big. My double chin is shrinking and that's the most noticeable thing to me.
Thanks Kris, I guess I won't be changing it back any time soon lol. I know plenty of people who are so into their pictures, but then again they're stuck up too. As for pizza my suggestion would be to swear it off, pizza is pure EVIL to those trying to lose weight. I rack my brain trying to find one that is low-cal, low-fat and still taste good. My only solution is to not have it very often, like a birthday cake.
Kristie not yet. The physical agility to be a patrol officer is pretty intense and I'm no where near that ability yet and way too fat to wear a uniform or perform the duties. But one of my level 7 motivators on CK is to become a police officer. So one day soon I'll make it.
Aaron I don't know what it is but it seems like everyone on my facebook this week has been talking about pizza, and on Dr. Oz this morning he had a chef who learned to lose weight in his kitchen and demonstrated making a fresh pizza from scratch. Some times it's difficult to balance urges.
No stories about arresting people as a joke, our department is very professional, and something like that would certainly get you into trouble. We do however joke with each other. There are several practical jokers on my shift and so that keeps things light.

I had been thinking about pizza all day yesterday, so I had 2 slices of cheese pizza from a restaraunt nearby. I love those Italian restaraunts that sell pizza by the slice. It was great NY style, but I love every style of pizza.
That's great that you can have a little fun on the jobsite. I'm sure that it gets very busy and crazy at times. Do you have any funny stories about police arresting anyone as a joke or things like that (that you are allowed to share)?

Oh, so that explains the handcuffs. I did know that you did police work. I thought you were an officer that patrolled the streets, however. Thanks for sharing more about yourself. You're doing great and I know you'll be successful. I can tell you're dedicated to this!! Keep our cities safe!!

Your profile picture is great! And I really don't know anyone who likes pictures of themselves. Az for pizza . . . don't get me started . . . I could write a book. It's my number one weakness.

So you are the one that does it all!
I like the new pic, its silly and that's good. I hate pics of myself but I am trying to take several these days to I can see how I am changing. When you put them side by side you will be shocked at what you see... So get that camera going ;-)
Hope your dentist apt. went well.
