Friday, Feb 2 2007 - Gluten Free Oats!!!

I ordered gluten-free oats on the internet and my order came yesterday. So this morning I had oatmeal for breakfast. It was so wonderful. I love oatmeal and tastes even better than I remember. I just made it too sweet by adding too much brown sugar. I haven't had oatmeal since this summer, which I know isn't nearly as long as many celiacs who have gone for years without them.
So tonight I made oatmeal cookies. The problem is the best part of making oatmeal cookies for me is the dough. I love eating the dough before it's cooked-I know, raw eggs, risk and all. But when I was growing up, my mom and I would make oatmeal cookies and eat a lot of the dough. Before I found out I had celiac, I would rarely make them because I know I overdo the dough. Same with rice krispie treats-I had a rule that I could not make those or I would eat the whole pan in a day. Some foods just have such an addictive quality.
So, yes, I ate the cookie dough. Not too much though, but enough so that I'm full. (But not that "I feel so fat. I hate myself." full). But I have no idea how to record that on my food log. I calculated the calories and fat per cookie, so I think I'll just do an estimate of how many cookies the cookie dough would have made based on how many cookies I actually made. The recipe said it would make 3 dozen, so I think I could figure it out. It may put me over my target for the day.
Fridays are the nights that I plan to scrapbook, but I'm so tired tonight I'm tempted to just go to bed. I would like to do just one page, but it's such a pain to pull out of my supplies for just one page.
