Tuesday, Nov 6 2007 - getting stronger

View NIKKI8's food & exercise for this day

I ran 1 1/2 miles yesterday and walked 2 miles. I definitely could have run more, so we will do 2 miles next week. We are just getting back into it, so we were trying to start slow.
I also did my ab workout. It was really tough and I'm hoping I don't injure myself with improper form.
My food was really good yesterday. I was even under calories which never happens. :bigeyes3: In the afternoon the mini peanut butter cups were calling my name. I started thinking about how it would be okay to have a couple. But I ate grapes instead and felt so much better about it. It's not that a few would have been so awful. It's that I would have felt so guilty and then maybe ate more and have it turned into a binge. I got through the craving and I don't feel deprived (my big fear). I feel more confident about myself and that I can survive without junk.
My friend that I run with firmly believes that you can have anything in moderation. That's weight watcher's philosophy too. But for the moment, I don't want a small amount to trigger a binge. I will save what I want for my splurge meal and later re-evaluate reintroducing things in small amounts.

I'm worried that I'm getting sick. I've been fighting a cold for a while now, sneezing and runny nose. :sad3: Well, we ran outside last night in 40 degree weather. I bundled up, but I wonder if it was too much for me. I feel yucky in my chest. Plus I didn't get much sleep. The baby is not yet adjusted to Daylight Savings. He is getting up at 6:15 where he usually gets up at 7 or 7:30. :sleep3: So I'm really tired too. I think his little body is just off schedule.

I go to the ortho dr about my arm today and my knee injections. So I don't know if I will get in a workout. But hopefully I will find out what is wrong with this arm so I will know if/when I can get back to strength training.

I think grapes are a great substitute for candy -- after I eat them I just don't even want processed sugar any more. WAY TO GO! Now, please get the BP cups out of the house. That was a close call!

:wave1: Not sure what to tell you about the cheaper models of vacuum sealers. I can share that they aren't great for baked goods. Even if I freeze the baked goods first, the sealer still sucks out a good amount of air from them. It works ok on my homemade English Muffins, but I gave up trying it on homemade bread or regular muffins. For now, I'm just freezing those items in the freezer ziploc bags and then I suck as much air out of them as I can with a straw! :teeth3:

:hi: I haven't tried that pancake recipe, but I've made the other with egg whites, oatmeal and cottage cheese and I love that one. You need a blender, though, so maybe I should try Paintdiva's. I'm glad I could hlep with the PB cups! :) They're an issue for me, too. I found a bar recipe that uses PB cups that I'm going to make next week. Needing to make sure I have enough PB cups for the recipe is giving me motivation to not eat them.

BTW - Are you doing the Turkey Gut ab routine (or whatever it's called)? I've done it a couple times but am having trouble remembering to do it!

Woohoo for staying away from the PB Cups! I always feel so much better after making good choices, too. We just have to remember that when we're making the choice! Take care of yourself - I hope you feel better! Baby, too. :)

Yesterday when I was coming home for lunch I saw a gal out running with a stroller and I thought of you. I'm not sure why, do you/did you run with a stroller? Sorry to hear you are getting sick.
