Wednesday, Dec 5 2007 - The scale
View NIKKI8's food & exercise for this day
I went to the Y tonight to do my workout and I decided to weigh myself. I haven't weighed since August when I asked my hubby to hide the scale. That's a long time to be away from the scale. Back then I was tipping over 160. My clothes have gotten tighter and my face more full since then, so I was so worried that I was in the 170's. I kept telling myself, worst case scenario 175. But the reality wasn't even close to that. Are you ready? Drum roll: 164. And that was with clothes on at night. If it were first thing in the morning naked like I used to weigh then it probably would have been 161 or 160.
I am so relieved. It's not as bad as I thought!
Now granted, it's still bad. But considering the "vacation" I took from healthy eating for about 4 months, maintaining is just fine. Now I'm focused on losing. But I'm not going to weigh anymore. I just needed to see where I was at. I am measuring progress by my jeans.
I am probably one of the only ones whose CK starting weight increased by 25 pounds. I started at 139 and now I'm at 164. And that was about a year ago. How awful is that?!
Well, to be fair to myself, that was my "sick" weight. My normal weight was 154. So really I'm only 10 pounds above my average weight. Am I rationalizing?
I would love to be 145, but right now I have 2 main goals and they don't involve a number. They are: 1. fit comfortably in my jeans 2. conquer emotional eating.
Number 2 will help make number 1 happen.
Okay, I have so much more to say, but it's midnight and I'd better just go to bed. Hopefully I'll have more time to write tomorrow.

oh Nikki - what a GREAT surprise on the scale
 Now you KNOW you can do this. you're totally not alone on gaining weight since joining CK. I've put on 15 pounds (and haven't braved the scale in a while) ... and I, too, have to give up the ghost of my lowest weight. It just wasn't sustainable. We need to take this day by day and work on loving ourselves FIRST and losing weight later.
