NIKKI8's CalorieKing blog

Sunday, Jan 20 2008 - decision made

View NIKKI8's food & exercise for this day

I made a decision about WW. In fact, the solution came to me while I was blogging about it the other night. I think writing the pros and cons really helped me clarify things in my mind. That's why I like blogging-it helps to sort things out. And I love getting input. All your input was valuable and gave me some additional insight.
I decided WW is not right for me. If I feel like I need some face to face support, then I think I should find a good overeaters anonymous meeting. It's free, it's more focused on what I need with food addiction, and i think my husband would allow me to go to an evening meeting (so that would take care of my time problem). I think he'd be supportive of this.
But then you guys got me thinking about trying to do "3" programs. Sarah makes a good point that that's 3 areas where the focus is on food. That is something to consider. I am not doing much with PNP right now, haven't even updated my journal there lately. Just been glancing at the boards. And at least OA is not another "counting" program. I like the spiritual component of it, about the focus to rely on God instead of food.
Well, I'm still thinking about that one. We'll see. But I know for sure that I'm not doing WW.
Thanks for your input. It's always appreciated.
I plan to check in again later with my format.
Oh, and I did pretty well with food yesterday. Had my piece of cake at the party and that was it. I feel very focused on fitting into my jeans better soon. :wave1:

I noticed you'd asked Cynthia for a crockpot beef stew recipe - I have a great one for you. If you go on Allrecipes.com and search for "slow cooker beef stew I" - the first result should be a recipe submitted by Nancy. I've made it exactly per the recipe and it's delicious. I also like to substitute a half cup of red wine for the broth (so I use 1 cup broth + 1/2 cup red wine) and that adds a fantastic flavour to it. Hope that helps!

We never had MLK day off - all of our snow days get made up in June, regardless of when they occur. But we're in lily-white rural PA, so no one cares. We have ONE African American student out of the 700 kids in our building. One. :nono2: But last year was the first day we got Presidents' day off ... We DO however get the first day of buck season off, and all of "Grange Fair" (so we never start til after Labor Day) ... I guess all schools choose how to squeeze in 185 days, right?

:hi: I think not joining WW is a good idea. Unless you determine that CK and PNP aren't working and give them up, yet another program probably won't help. Yay for good food and just having one piece of cake!

I think it is a good decision. I am not checking in at PNP or WW anymore because it was just too much and I was obsessing. I have already made friendships here in CK and honestly dont want to put the time into a new program or new people. I think CK has such a great core group of people and we really keep each other focused. I am glad you are gonna stick with it!
