View NIKKI8's food & exercise for this day

Okay, I'm going to have to change those pictures. You just can't see them that well. The profile picture is from when we went camping in either Sept or Oct. I don't remember exactly. So I'm lying on an air mattress in the tent. I thought of that one since it's cute and you can actually see my body. But I'll have to find another one as you can't even see my face, the pic is so tiny.
Food Report
Pretty good day. I had a couple of slip ups. I took the kids to a restaurant for lunch. It might sound crazy to take a 22mos old and an almost 4 yr old to a restaurant by myself. But I picked Collin up from school and Carter and I hadn't eaten yet. We had some extra time and I was in the mood for a really good salad. So we went to Village Inn. I ordered a Chicken Cobb salad and took off most of the unhealthy stuff. But I got Thousand Island dressing. :nono5: I just couldn't do FF Ranch with a salad that good. But I was so sparing with the dressing and did the fork dip thing. So I hardly even had a tablespoon. :y: Was proud of myself for that. The bad part is I had several of my kids' fries. :n: For afternoon snack I had pretzels. I wasn't really hungry for dinner. I waited until later and only had a small amount. But I was getting rid of leftover holiday candy (Christmas and Halloween!) and I did have 2 mini packages of gummi lifesavors. But the candy is gone now. No one was eating it so I just got rid of the temptation. :thumbu2:
I want to cut out the BLTs. I hate when I eat my kids' food. Those little bites add up and I am usually not hungry when I eat them. It's my way of trying not to feel deprived without actually indulging. But today I had alot. Almost an entire serving of fries. So that is my goal to work on.

Exercise
I ran tonight with my running partner. We haven't ran since before Christmas. :bigeyes3: We had the holidays, then my trip to Chicago, then my knee injury. Well, we are terribly out of shape! We ran a mile, walked a few laps, and then ran another half mile. Yikes! We need to do this more.
I came home and did an Ab workout.

Daily Joy
This is going to sound wierd, but the best thing I did for myself today was get some extra cleaning done. It felt really good to get some extra tasks done.

Daily Gratitude
I'm so thankful for the time with my friend running tonight. I call it running therapy because we talk about so many issues in our lives. Well, tonight she gave me some great advice on how to approach a situation with my husband and she just had some great insight. So I really appreciate that.

No "other" today. I'm going to go get in the shower and finish my other tasks before I go to bed. I have other things on my mind, but they'll have to wait for another day. :wave1::bye:

maybe the no kid-food-picking can be your one goal for tomorrow? I am really digging this "one goal" idea if you hadn't noticed :laugh5: Meanwhile, isn't running with a friend great? I am so grateful to have the neighborhood guys to run with - it's been good for me to connect this way. And I bet it was good for you to catch up with your friend!

Sounds like good choices with the salad and the slight amount of dressing. for the running. I am so out of shape it would make you and your friend look like Olympic athletes! :)

Actually, we did make it to play practice, we just had to do musical vehicles. Abby and I took the truck. Brian took my car to Sams to get tires, and Ally got to stay a couple more hours with Grandma. A couple hundred bucks and hours later we were all back in business. And Abby still made it to rehearsal!

Oh, and to answer your questions: Hubby got talked into volunteering at the caucus tonight. He'll just sit at a table and hand out literature and answer questions and (they hope) collect donations. He got really involved in a local state campaign 2 yrs ago (it was awful for me - he was gone EVERY NIGHT!!!!) and will be involved this year, too. This is the start of it, I guess. He promised he wouldn't let it suck up so much of his time, though. We'll see. Oddly enough, I somehow got talked into being the Treasuer for this campaign, which is sucking up a ton of my time right now and I don't even like politics. I told hubby that as a family, we are volunteering plenty of time so he better be home more this summer/fall! And, I used Zatarains. I added leftover chicken, a cut up chicken sausage, some shrimp and a ton of extra bell peppers. And we had leftover corn bread from chili night. It was pretty good.

:hi: You had a great day! Having the regular dressing, but just using a small amt, is better than getting the ff ranch! You need some fat to help absorb all the good stuff in the veggies. Yay for throwing out the candy! Dumb question - do Baptists give up stuff for Lent or is that just a Catholic thing? Either way, you could do it and make cutting back on the BLTs your Lent thing. For some reason, I have an easier time giving up stuff when I think God is watching than when it's just for my health. LOL

Nikki, you sound really good and motivated! Good for you for getting out there and running. Isn't it funny how we feel accomplished when we clean?! Its definitely a woman thing. Yay for recognizing all of those BLT's they do add up! Oh, and I'm a big fan of getting the dressing that you like with the salad. As long as you are not overindulging, usually it is good fats that you're eating -- a necessary evil!

Sounds like your food was pretty good today! I love Cobb salad (sans olives) ... yummy! I have been known to take my girls to a restaurant alone too. Sometimes you just need a real meal like that. Good for you for getting in a run:clap:
