Bootcamp Class

I had it in my head that class started at 10:30. It ENDs at 10:30. I got there at 10 to do some cardio before class and saw everyone in the gym. So I went in for the last part of the class.

The personal trainer was so nice about it. It was a really neat class, from the part I was able to do. After class I told the personal trainer about my bicep tendonitis. She told me some modifications I could do for some of the exercises. She also told me that "total rest" was not the best thing for tendonitis as the muscle will atrophy and then when you go to work it again, it will rip all over again. That made alot of sense to me. My friend who is a physical therapist also told me that I should be doing stretching and strengthening exercises for my arm. So I already suspected my doctor wasn't entirely correct. I will do some research and then I may go to another ortho for a second opinion or call this dr and ask about exercises.
One thing she does in the class is hand out weekly goals. I missed the first week, obviously. But the first week's nutrition goal was to cut out all soda type drinks. This is something I have been thinking I needed to do for sure. I've been drinking more pop since I've given up chips and stuff. So I think it's been a substitute. This week's goal is to take a good quality multivitamin. Well, I haven't taken one since I mine were making me sick (gluten). I had just found out that Centrum were gluten free and were going to start taking those. Then I got an email that Centrum is changing their formula and will no longer be gluten free.

The personal trainer gave me some recommendations that I'm going to look into.
Finanaces
I haven't written about this yet (I don't think), but for a long time I knew we were headed for some major financial trouble. I knew my husband was in denial and i wasn't sure what to do about it. In the beginning of the year when I was trying to decide on what I wanted to change this year, I talked to my sister about making financial changes. She told me I can't do that entirely on my own. She suggested I just focus on getting my food healthy and pray about the finances. I took her advice and have just been praying about it.
Well, my husband has finally woken up to the seriousness of our situation. So that prayer has been answered. We are trying to decide what to do with our tax refund as we want to get a cushion in the bank. Right now we can pay bills but not groceries, gas or any extras. That all goes on the credit card.

Yeah, so you can imagine the kind of balance we are dealing with.
Now, I am not one to spend extravagantly, but I have a few weaknesses. I don't buy clothes or shoes or makeup or anything. My weakness is when I grocery shop at Walmart. I don't know how Walmart is in your area, but here it is a SuperCenter, where you can buy all your groceries and everything else in the world. So I tend to buy little extras while I'm there. Usually little things for the boys or even just extra grocery things. My other weakness is buying exercise stuff. I love to buy exercise videos, equipment or stuff like that.
Well, my first financial fitness goal is to limit my grocery spending. My goal is to spend $100 at Walmart and $20 at the health food store per week. Yes, I said week. I was spending upwards of $150-170 per week.

For a family of four. And my gluten free bill has varied, sometimes up to $40.
Well, today I spent $120 at Walmart and $28 at the health food store. Closer and better. I rationalize that I didn't grocery shop at all last week so we were out of alot of stuff. Plus I had to get some health and beauty stuff that we usually don't need. So I need to still look at what I can cut out of my grocery bill. Oh, and I didn't even buy diapers this week. That would have easily added $10-20 depending on the size box I got. But I got the huge size last time and shouldn't need anymore this week.
I use coupons and have WIC (Thank God for that!! as milk is a fortune these days.)
So I will keep updating as we make more decisions about our finances.
I wanted to write more about my husband, but I need to go get dinner started. I did want to say though, that I did call him on it and actually told him he was being a jerk.

Good for me. He just stared at me for a minute and shrugged his shoulders. GRR!
Okay, I'm off to make Beef and Broccoli.
-------------------------------
We are FINALLY better. No stomach incidents, no fevers.

Collin is still more tired than usual, but other than that, doing just great. That was one long lasting bug.

My husband was a jerk to me this weekend. I don't know what his problem was, but I'm a little bitter this morning. And I need to work on letting it go so it doesn't affect the rest of my day.
Maybe I'll write more about it later.
Right now I need to get the boys up and ready for school and everything. I have my bootcamp class today and I'm excited. Later!

I do like my hair - I mean, it's kind of cute, I think. I can't tell. What I really want is for my face to be thinner. But not enough to stop eating all the almonds I can lay my effing hands on!
=D How are you doing?

by the way, you might check to see if your church (or any nearby) are offering either Financial Peace University or Crowne Financial Ministries. They are both similar in concept; FPU is run by Dave Ramsey and that is what Kevin and I are doing now. FPU was $95 for us to join, it is a 13 week course at our church.

I am glad to hear you're starting on a financial plan. I know how hard it is, groceries is the one thing I ALWAYS struggle with. The only salvation for me is that I pay with cash. I've had to put things back a few times because I didn't have enough money in the envelope. And in January I spent the first half of the month's food budget all by January 4th
:bigeyes3:. It is a learning experience and will always be ongoing. Best advice I have there is to make a list and do your best to stick to it. Obviously there are times you will have to make modifications, but I will only do that for necessities (produce is a necessity for me, so if banana isn't on my list, I will buy them anyway). Fitness stuff used to be a huge downfall for me but I finally realized that I just dont have any more ROOM for more t-shirts, dvd's or shorts!

Do you have Sam's Club or Costco? I buy their brand and it's GF. I think the Wal-Mart brand would be also if the Sam's brand is. It says so on the label.

I don't want to discourage your goal of financial fitness (I am all for it, and my weakness is scrapbook stuff :blush4
:) but let me tell you $150-$170 a week for a family of four is REALLY good right now. We are averaging about $225 (including $20/week on pet food) a week....and don't even get me started on GAS!?!

So glad you are feeling better! My kids were EXHAUSTED this morning, the time change is doing them in -- and they begged to stay up an hour later last night since they lost an hour - thank God I didn't let them.
