My little piggies are so much better (Oink! to all of you with the little piggy jokes.

They are not swollen anymore, I can walk with almost no pain. I can't bend them yet, but they are so much better that I'm thinking they are not broken.

I called the personal trainer that does my boot camp class. She was great--she wrote up a strength training routine for me that won't stress my toes and is easy on my shoulder. Seemed like quite a challenge to me, but it's a great routine. I did it today. And she said I could definitely bike--the recumbant bike especially. So I did that too, but the recumbant bike felt so different from an upright bike to me. I felt like I was working pretty hard, even though my HR wasn't that high and I didn't burn many calories.

So I don't know what was up with that. I may do a spin class next week. I'll see how the toes feel.
I forgot to mention something that my counselor and I talked about regarding food. I told her that I am really struggling with food. I am hanging onto it like a security blanket right now. I don't want to give up anything and I just want it all. I am actually afraid to set any kind of limit on food right now for myself.
She said I'm using food as a distraction right now. To distract me from the painful issues in my marriage. She said once I deal with those issues, the food issues will lessen.
But in the meantime, she told me to use some self-talk phrases to help me be aware of what's going on.
Like "I can choose another distraction. I can make a healthy choice." Things like that. And it's really been helpful. I'm not binge free yet. But just having it simplified like that is so helpful for me.
Well, it's after 2a.m and I am wired from scrapbooking. But I'd better try to unwind and get some sleep.

Glad to hear your toes are better! Just remember the old saying, you are what you eat! Hope you were able to sleep well.

I use the recumbent bike sometimes just because the stat bike hurts my butt so bad! I think the reason for the difference in HR and calorie is because of the location of your heart in relation to your legs - it doesnt have to work as hard to get blood to the legs. It still does make my quads burn just as much though!

Your counselor's idea of using simple self-talk phrases is very smart. I think I will use that idea, too. I'm glad you have that strategy now! Also, glad your toes are feeling better - hopefully they'll be 100% in no time!
