View NIKKI8's food & exercise for this day

I have been thinking about how exercise and prayer time are really important to me. Those 2 things are so vital to my mental, physical and emotional balance each day. Since I have changed my schedule for the summer, it's hard to get in the exercise during the day. And I used to get up early to pray, but for a while, Carter was getting up so early and threw off my whole routine. I got out of the habit.

So I decided that I need to get up at 6am each morning to pray and do the elliptical. I actually love doing it at the same time. I feel like I can focus my mind on God while I'm on the elliptical. That probably sounds so weird, but my mind doesn't wander as much as it does if I'm just sitting. (Sometime I wonder if I'm slightly ADHD.) :laugh5:
So I did this on Saturday--Got up, did the elliptical for 30 mins, prayed the whole time and read from a devotional book. then I listened to a guided meditation on my ipod and took a nap until the kids woke up.
The problem was, that was the night I stayed up until 2:30 in the morning watching a movie and scrapbooking. :nono5:
I got sick the next day. Body aches, small fever, sore throat, stomach issues. Yuck! :cross3:
So I've been recovering from that. I still didn't feel 100% today. I plan to go to bed "early" (for me, at least) tonight so I can get up at 6am and do my routine.
I decided that this is so important to me--such a part of who I am that I have to do this for me. But that means I am going to need to go to bed earlier and that's really hard. :afraid4: I love to play on CK at night!

warning: gross story ahead
Here's another Carter story for you. The other day I was giving the boys a bath. My sister called at the very end of it. Collin jumped out of the tub and I'm drying him off as I'm talking on the phone. I hear little Carter saying, "Mommy, I want out, I want out." Now this child never wants to get out of the bathtub. I usually have to fight with him when it's time to get out so I knew this was weird.
I look and there are turds floating everywhere in the water! :barf3: I get Carter out immediately and he says,'Mommy, dirty" and points to the water. Uh, yeah, Carter. That's an understatement.
I somehow laughed and told my sister what happened, got off the phone with her and cleaned up Carter. What a fun mess that was!
Aren't you glad I shared that?

I have training for my new job tomorrow (even though it doesn't start until August). :y: I'm excited about that.
No news on the situation with Chris. Although my good friend and running partner was discussing the situation today--I told her about his reaction to me wanting to bike and all. She said I don't have to ask his permission. And to tell him I'm not asking his permission. I'm going to him out of respect and because I want him to feel comfortable with the situation. But basically, here's what I want to do.
I thought that was good advice. Now I just need an opportunity to talk to him about it. He's asleep now and I went to bed early last night because I wasn't feeling well.

Okay, I'd better get to bed if I want to get up at 6am. :bigeyes3:

Ick! Daniel pees in his bath water all the time and he pooped on my bath mat, but so far he hasn't pooped in the water. Glad to hear you have found some "me" time for you and God to spend time together.

I think your plan to get up early to pray/exercise at the same time is a great plan. Just do it and it will hopefully become habit. Ugh! I hate those bath messes! I agree with your friend about not having to ask permission. Nadine has good advice on how to word it. Good luck!

Hey Nikki! Good luck with the bike situation. I love the idea of praying while ellipticalling! Cocoa Pebbles do not have malt in them and are considered safe. I believe cocoa crispies however do have malt and I avoid those. I eat envirokids koala crips typically but the pebbles were the only cereal I could grab at the convenience store one day so I've been eating those instead. :)

eewwwww! Poor Carter! Thanks for the suggestion on the zone bars. In talking to the trainer, she wants me to rely only if I have to for snacks, but to work hard on getting a true protein (lean meat, fish, egg or cheese) and a carb at every meal. Not easy! As for talking to Chris, you may want to soften it a bit, and say something along the lines of I really want your support but I'm going to do it, whether or not I feel like you're supporting me. If you go into it saying you're not asking for his permission, I think it will immediately put him on the defense. Not saying you'd start with that sentence, but you know? P.S. I totally understand the idea of setting aside that "me" time -- it is the entire reason I get up at 5AM!
