I'm finally back! I've been really busy lately.
We had a crazy weekend. My son has been wanting to go camping for weeks, but it's been raining every weekend. Finally this weekend was clear but my husband had a car show on Sunday morning that he really wanted to go to.
So we decided to just go to a KOA campground in town so we could leave early in the morning and get to the show.
Well, so many things went wrong--except it didn't rain, thank goodness. But the campground was right next to train tracks. And trains went by every hour. Carter woke up every time and he would "hide" under his blanket saying, "Oh, no, 'nuther train." Poor kid.
Before that even, there was a group of kids-probably college kids partying loudly and heavily right next to our site. Cars kept coming with more people to join the party.
It took a while, but my husband finally got a hold of someone in charge of the campground and they kicked out the partiers.
Then my husband got sick to his stomach and spent lots of time in the bathroom (the rest of us were sleeping). And one of the air matresses had a hole in it, so my husband pretty much slept on the hard ground and woke up with a huge headache.
Oh, my. It was nuts.

Yes, I can laugh at it now. But it wasn't fun dealing with my crabby husband with all that.
On Sunday morning we came home and at 10am (!!) both my kids went down for a nap and slept for 3 hours! My husband went to the car show (we met him there later) and I had 3 hours to myself. It was so awesome.

It's been months since I had both kids sleeping at the same time. I read a book and took a nap.
Food and exercise have both been hit or miss. I am working hard to figure out my food issues and find what is going to work for me.
I was thinking the other day about how I decided I was going to love exercise and now I do. I just kept telling myself, "I love to workout" until it became true.
I was thinking I could try that with healthy eating. So I've been saying to myself, "I love eating healthy food. I hate putting junk in my body."
And it's actually been helping!
My little toe is still very sore but I really want to try to run soon. I think my foot will be okay, but I dread that first run. It's going to kill me. I hate that awful feeling of when you feel like you can't go on and you've only done half a mile!

But it's got to be done!
Later, guys. I've missed you all!

Sounds like it was all a little nuts. Glad you all are back home and in safe and comfy beds.

Tough camping trip!!!!! It sounds like a long night. Good thinking just deciding to like healthy food. Convincing myself that I love to eat healthy definitely helps me when I go to restaurants. On my girls weekend in WI, there were TONS of fish fries advertized. My friend doesn't eat fish, so our slogan became "C doesn't do fish and J doesn't do fry."

sounds like a hectic-in-the-moment, good-memory-in-hindsight sort of a weekend! How awesome that you had those 3 hrs! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I like your idea with convincing yourself that you love eating healthy food. I might try that!

I have missed you! Kudos to you for trying out the camping thing...poor Carter! I love your self-talk idea!

For me, too, the self-talk about exercise is always a bit easier that the self-talk about food. But you bring up a great strategy, and I'm gonna try it!

Wow sorry to hear about the crazy camping fiasco. I guess for your husband's sake, it is good that you went to a campground with an actual bathroom instead of a real rough-living campsite! haha! Welcome back

Bet it will be a while before your son asks to go camping again! But it sounds nice to have 3 hours to yourself. Daniel has been asleep for an hour now and it's quiet in the house.
