I finally ran today! It's been almost a month but I only have pain in my little toe when I bend it. No pain walking or exercising. So I decided I wanted to run. I figured with that time away from it, I would die a half mile into it. My friend warned me to take it easy and not do too much my first run after an injury. So I planned to not do much.
But I felt great! I had so much energy during this run, it was wonderful. I did 2 miles and probably could have done another half, at least. But I didn't want to push it.

So I am really happy I am back to running. I have a love/hate relationship with running. I really do like it, but there are moments in the run when I feel warn out and then I hate it and wonder why I'm doing this. When I'm done I feel so good though. Like I really accomplished something.
After my run, I did a strength workout.
I was actually supposed to clean house for $, but she called and said they have an ant problem and could I come next week.
This actually worked really well as my dad gave me money to go shopping for clothes for the boys and I have had no time to do it.
So after my workout, I took them to the mall. Well, it had been pouring rain all day. I mean, really raining hard. Just running from my car to the mall door with the boys in the stroller, and we were all soaked. I felt really bad and wondered if maybe I shouldn't be shopping on such a crappy day. But our weekend is packed and next week is looking pretty full too.
And Carter has only 2 sets of summer pajamas and Collin only have a few pairs of shorts that fit. They really need some clothes.
We had lunch (Grilled chicken salad for me!) and I let the boys play in the kids area. While they are playing, my husband calls in a panic, upset that I'm out in the weather. He says the streets are flooding and I need to get home. I told him I would as soon as I got some clothes for the boys.

Chris panics so easily.
So I bought a bunch of stuff for them at Sears. New swim trunks, pajamas. t-shirts, and 4 pairs of shorts for Collin. Lots of fun! Seriously, it's been so long since I have shopped for new clothes for the boys. We usually get hand me downs from friends or I shop at second-hand stores. So this was a treat.

And the roads were fine. At least the ones I drove on were. Many areas are flooding but the route I took home was fine.
Food has been so-so. I only had one binge/slip up today. This afternoon I had a bowl of icecream--which is unusual for me as I haven't dipped into the icecream in a while. And then I had more tonight.

That late afternoon time is a weak time for me. So I need to come up with a plan for that.
I don't know if I mentioned that I went biking with my friend the other day. I had the kids in the bike trailer and I'd never pulled them before in it. But it was fine. Our trail was relatively flat so I kicked up my gears so I got some resistance. I kept my HR at a steady 145. But without hills, it was not much of a challenge. But it was so nice to bike outside and the kids were really good. We only biked for about 30 minutes, burned 300 calories.
Next week I was hoping to bike on my own and have my MIL watch the kids, but if I am cleaning Monday, she will have to watch them for that and I may not be able to ride on my own. I may do another ride with the kids. We'll see.
I really need to step up my tri-training (well, not tri for me-just du). Now that I'm running again, that will get me on my way.

Oh... I am so jealous of the run. I have put off running for so long... and I used to love it. Just getting back into it is such a daunting thought. Oh well. I'll get there
;) . I so feel ya on the kids and clothes issue. I just finally broke down and bought my daughter some shoes. We have been cramming here feet in her tennis for the past week because I have not had time to go shopping. Poor thing. She just grew out of everything over night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They seem to do that! Glad you didn't float away while shopping - Ha! What part of Missouri do you live in?

Glad to hear you had some time for you and you enjoyed it. When your late afternoon munchies time hits, I recommend a high protein snack -- a slice or two of ham or turkey rolled around a string cheese or a couple of slices of ham or turkey or roast beef spread with chive and onion cream cheese, rolled up and sliced. Or a hard boiled egg if you like those. Or anything that's high protein. Protein will fill you up fast and keep you from eating cereal or ice cream or other carbs that won't.

Good for you Nikki! Your entries are happiest when you talk about getting me-time and activity in. I'm glad you got to run. I know exactly what you mean about that love/hate thing -- I love the feeling I get when I'm done running (and my running is NOTHING compared to yours) --- but while I'm doing it I'm wondering WHY I am torturing myself!

Nice job on the run! Probably good to not push it. I think coming up with a plan for the late afternoon time is good. What about a mandatory late afternoon snack?
