Tuesday, Jul 22 2014 - It's Like A Video Game
View OLDARMYMED's food & exercise for this day
I am beginning to treat Calorie King like a video game. The goal is to stay within my calorie limit while still eating things I like and never feeling hungry.
I learned years ago that animals, including humans, are not designed to top off their tanks two or three times a day. Doing so leaves me feeling full and saps my energy. I had a cat (one of my kids took him when she moved out) and we left food out all day for him. He never overate and simply grazed throughout the day. That cat had an unbelievable energy reserve. He could jump up from a sound sleep and take off after a bird out on the deck like lightening. The only thing that slowed him down was the closed patio door. WHAM - head first into the glass, never seemed to learn, BUT he ate what he needed when he was hungry and was not the least bit fat.
Eating three filling meals a day is not natural. When I spread my calorie intake throughout the day (while still saving a few for a nice dinner) I don't feel hungry and I don't feel stuffed. I hate the stuffed feeling. I am constantly reminding myself to pay attention to what my body is telling me. When I want to eat, I try and determine whether I am hungry or just want something to eat. Fortunately, there is not much that I don't like so veggies and fruit are a shopping priority.
Hanging in there and still hitting the target. A few more pounds and I'll be ready to move to the next level (adding more exercise).

I had a cat years ago that was a skinny little thing. It was full of never ending energy. This cat had lots of food available 24 hours a day but it rarely ate - food was like an after thought. She was so busy running around she did not have time to eat. About every three days she would come in screaming at the top of her lungs for food - it was like she just discovered that she had not eaten in a few days and realized she was hungry. This is an exageration of course but I always try to use her a role model to keep moving and keep busy and food won't control me.
