Sunday, Jun 1 2008 - Ready for our 5K

View OTTER's food & exercise for this day

I'm breakfasted (light) and ready for a shower. Then we'll be heading out to our 5K walk in town. Here's the web site, if anyone wants to know more: http://www.ohsu.edu/health/page.cfm?id=13497

It is a wet day today, but probably mild enough that even if we (when we) get soaked, we won't get too cold. I'm dressing in layers, and in fabrics that are kind in wet weather. No cotton, which drags and chafes when wet, and pulls warmth away from the body.

Wish us luck and fun. Catch up later!

Tram ride to the top of the hill was fun. My tummy never likes the swooping swing of the car as it passes the towers. But the view is wonderful.

Walk was great. A cool, misty day. No fear of overheating or sunburn. I walked without pain. That's right, made it through the whole walk with no joint pain.

Let's see, it was a benefit event, helping the Doernbecher's Children's Hospital (I think). And OHSU had a health faire at the finish line. We all were able to collect interesting and helpful information on living healthier lifestyles. My favorite thing: I got a free body fat check - I'm down to 30.8%. I think when I began with CK I was at 49% body fat. What this tells me - I probably won't be able to go much below my goal weight of 132. My body fat percentage would get too low. Also tells me I'm doing well with my strength training regimen.

I brought a camera expecting magnificent views, but the weather was poor so there wasn't much to see. But I'll post the best of what I took.

That's probably all for today.

Thanks for visiting!
