Post-thanksgiving...

Friday, November 28th 2008

Did okay with meals yesterday, but not perfect. Was feeling a little alarmed at how the scale was lowering too quickly for me, and how cold I was all the time, since coming to visit my middle sister. Was showing weight loss even after breakfast with all my clothes on. (Usually weigh-in nude, and right after rising.) So have allowed myself a few more dense meals.

Middle sister joined us at the table for Thanksgiving, but left shortly after everyone sat down. At least she kept all her fo...

Good Thanksgiving, giving thanks...

Thursday, November 27th 2008

Happy Holiday to those in the U.S.A. today.

We had a rough night last night. Middle sister had much pain, and yesterday there was trouble in digesting. Oh, she has so much pain. But I didn't want to start there.

She was discharged from hospital early in the week, and because her pain is controlled by the opiates and she is still ambulatory, she is home with us. Praise God.

It is a hard journey. My husband tried to prepare me, but no words could have prepared me for all of this.

I went to church today, and it ...

Journey Coming to Close...

Wednesday, November 12th 2008

I spoke with my baby sister last night. Our middle sister is in hospital. The cancer has spread further. Middle sister is on morphine and is no longer able to communicate with us. No one expects her to live much longer.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to travel. Not knowing what to expect from myself, or anything. Just wanting a safe trip, a time to connect with those who are here, a chance to hold the hand of middle sister and whisper into her ear. Hearing is the last sense to...
