My middle sister passed away this evening after a four year fight with cancer. She was 45 years old.
The very end was peaceful, even joyful. Surrounded by friends and our stepmom, there was laughter in her room as her breathing slowed and then stopped.
My baby sister and I visited her body within the hour, said our last good-byes, and now our family begins the process of gathering the threads of her life to put to rest.
Thank you for all your prayers, good thoughts, well wishes, and gifts over this time. They have buoyed me, middle sister, and our family. Perhaps I will write more deeply later. For now I am tired but not able to sleep. Reaching out in this small way seems helpful.

It is just so painful to have your sister leave your life. My middle sister died in November, 2006, so I am sending you love and comfort vibes along with prayers for you and your family knowing that they can help in some small way.
