Quiet day today. A few errands - still pulling together the threads of middle sister's life, helping baby sister to resettle and move. Feeling thoughtful. Feeling some nice anticipation about the changes that I will seek in my life this coming year. Uncertainty feels like sweet anticipation for a change -- nice, since I'm usually not one to embrace change.Thursday, December 25th 2008
I've just finished a light dinner, the rest of the family is in the living room, and I'm pondering what my "resolutions" (or goals) should be for the new year after the lessons of this closing year. Feeling especially thoughtful after a phone conversation with my older half-brother.Monday, December 22nd 2008
My family tells me we did great at the Memorial Service. I was the only blood relative to speak. My baby sister wrote something that her hubby read for her, my stepmom and dad brought themselves and other gifts (flowers, art), but I was the only one to speak. I'm glad I did speak. I invited anyone who felt comfortable to share a memory or two, to tells us what middle sister meant to them. There were some amazing stories.Thursday, December 18th 2008

We've started gathering the threads of middle sister's life. Funeral arrangements have been made - small memorial service next friday, larger celebration of her life in the spring. Packing clothes, looking through closets, cleaning kitchen, waiting for hospice to come collect their equipment, medications already disposed of in the legal fashion.
