Still Kicking!

Sunday, November 23rd 2008

That's a reference to my maternal grandmother. When she was tired of what life had to offer, she used to say "what's the use of kicking." But my middle sister is a fighter! She was discharged from hospital early in the week, and because her pain is controlled by the opiates and she is still ambulatory, she is home with us. Praise God.

It is a hard journey. My husband tried to prepare me, but no words could have prepared me for all of this.

I went to church today, and it ...

Journey Coming to Close...

Wednesday, November 12th 2008

I spoke with my baby sister last night. Our middle sister is in hospital. The cancer has spread further. Middle sister is on morphine and is no longer able to communicate with us. No one expects her to live much longer.

That meant that almost every day, almost every meal, I ate to the point where I was uncomfortably full. Sometimes to the point of wanting to...

All Hallows Eve Today...

Friday, October 31st 2008

...and now the eve is almost over -- at least for me. Soon I will ready for bed.

I went to work as a "super hero" today. I am help desk on Fridays. So I was Super Help Deskian, or Super Woman a.k.a. mild-mannered Clarkina Kent. I carried a bucket of treats with me, and everyone I passed or assisted was offered a treat. Made for a nice day.

After work, hubby came to pick me up and we drove over the river to spend the evening with our niece and great nephew. It was his fi...
