Thrifty - NIFTY!

Saturday, July 5th 2008

Here I am in the closing weekend of my vacation.

I did manage to clean my closet of the extra large clothes that no longer fit. And I went shopping to find some new clothes and had a tremendous surprise -- I've dropped another size in pants. This made me bold! I've not been able to find all the clothes I need by shopping at regular stores. Today I tried my neighborhood Thrift Store. Thrift Stores are great for finding bargains, and they suit my frugal nature, and they're great for &quo...

No More Camouflage (start) / Turnip Slaw (finish)

Tuesday, July 1st 2008

That's the title on my guided prayer meditation/journal for this day. Kind of made me laugh to see this – my theme has been "not hiding me." This is arguably the same as "no more camouflage."

Lots of thoughts this week -- philosophy, faith, fat, fitness. But too hot to want to sit and type anything out, or leave my computer on long in this un-airconditioned room.

Will try to post a pic of me riding in that antique train, river outside the window.

God w...

Faith Sense Changing...

Sunday, June 22nd 2008

My spouse and I have struggled for a while with the church we have been attending over the last three years. It is a good place, offering me wonderful opportunities for worship services (I like ritual and music, good balance there), and opportunities for fellowship (have met and gotten to know many good individuals), yet an important piece feels to be missing: we have not found connection to the immediate and larger community. So this faith community, in the midst of a neighborhood and town t...
