Friday, Oct 30 2009 - Trying not to get de-railed...

View PLATEOFSTARS's food & exercise for this day

So today, I was on a natural high after 45 mins of cardio

we've got to stop and reflect on that sentence for a minute... wtf! I've NEVER been able to do 45 mins of cardio in my ENTIRE LIFE!! this week I've done it almost every day! woot! :rock1:

Anyway, so I decided to go to Winners and do some shoe shopping.... I am in desperate need of a pair of boots but being a size 11 and having thicker thighs, boots rarely ever fit.... I am sometimes lucky at Winners.

So I'm there and I'm having a grand old time... I'm in that kind of mood where you want to start talking to strangers cause you're just that happy and feeling like you want to spread the love.

And then this woman, a bit older (late 50s I'd say) sits at the stool next to mine and starts trying boots too. She ends up making a comment about how it always happens to her that that boots she likes are in every size but hers and I tell her I have the same thing because I'm at the top end being an 11.

So we're having this friendly chatter and she's recommending different stores for me to try - even an online website that her friends in size 11 have used successfully.

And then she tells me about one particular store that only sells bigger sized shoes... I'm starting to think 3 things in the following sequence: "1. awesome" and "2. must be extremely overpriced" and "3. Is she sure it's not a store for drag queens, cause I've been there."

I'm altogether still sailing on my high and happy I've run into her when she adds... right at the end when I'm about to go to the cash register with my find (YES! a pair of boots that FIT, are COMFORTABLE, have a HEEL, acutally ZIP UP the leg, and aren't over $100.).... when she drops the bomb...

"And you know, they don't just sell shoes... they sell clothes for women like you... you know, women with more on their frames - a more "full" woman." :cross1:

Maybe she could sense my resentment to this comment because she quickly followed it with "well, you're definitely on the smaller end of what the store offers, but you should definitely check it out".

FUMING ANGRY!!! :angry2:

I mean, I'm sure she meant well, but darn it! That was NOT what I needed today. Of course I know I am still overweight and even 20 lbs is just a chip off the top of what I need to lose... but COME ON!!! :bang:

Anyway, I am trying not to get de-railed...

I'm going out with some friends who I haven't seen in at least a month so I'm hoping I get some compliments on my weight loss... That will certainly help me feel less beat up!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Totally! It's hard not to take it to heart but I'm with you... here's to saying "meh" to strangers who shoot off their tongues!

Don't let it get to you. You are doing great, just reflect on all the things that put you in a good mood in the first place. People really do speak without thinking, and you can't let a stranger 'de-rail' you. I think you have come a long way, and made a lot of changes in addition to weight loss - like being able to do 45 minutes of cardio! - and you should just be on Cloud 9 because of that!
