I posted this in the forums but I gotta keep this one in my blog for referencing back to...

-----------------

Ok,

So I'm on a HUGE natural high this morning that is only partially due to the fact that I had a coffee for the first time in 2 weeks... :wink3:

Last night I got up the courage to try on some of my old clothes that I've been keeping in my closet from when I lost a bunch of weight 5 years ago.

Item #1: the only "little black dress" I have ever owned. Size 12 - worn at my lowest weight of 195 (approx 4 years ago)

Item #2: a GORGEOUS blue frilly-ish dress that I bought at H&M when I first started dating my husband (3 1/2 years ago) that I only ever wore once... when I bought it, it *just* fit (size 16, but I find H&M sizes to be on the smaller side)... unfortunately I had gained weight by the time I had an occassion to wear it again.

Item #3: a green dress (14) I bought 2 years ago that fit me well except that it always pinched my arms.

Item #4: a box full of my size 14 dress pants that I wore even when I was probably a size 16 and thus always scare me to put on for fear of the dreaded camel toe and other embarassing bulges...

So anyway, I got up the courage to not only try on these items but in front of my husband!! :afraid4:

So okay - I was so TOTALLY STOKED when I could get item #1 even over my head - least of all over my hips. Still too tight for public, but definitely back on its way to becoming a part of my wardrobe.

You wouldn't believe my utter shameful embarrassment 3 years ago at Christmas when I had been planning to wear item #2 to a Christmas party and the night of the party when I went to put it on... I couldn't even get the zipper up and the arm hole pinched so bad it left a red mark (even from just trying it on). I even started crying because I didn't have anything else to wear. :nono1:

And then last night... I got it on! Still tight, but the armholes didn't pinch and the zipper was perfectly up... 10 more lbs and it's going to look AWESOME on me...!! Looks like it's going to be my christmas dress THIS year instead! =D

Item #3 - Love this dress and am sad to see it go... but it's baggy on me now - I either have to get it taken in or pass it on to someone else.

Item #4 - ALL my pants fit... still a bit tight... I won't wear them to work until I lose another 5-10 lbs but that's just a few weeks away!

I can't tell you how extremely motivated I am right now! YAHOOOOOO!!!!!! :karate:

Unfortunately after I didn't fit the dress those Christmases ago I didn't kick myself into gear to start losing weight again... in fact I continued to gain weight for at least a year before I halted the weight incline. Definitely feels good to see that dress fitting in the near future.

Awesome! I think clothing is the most rewarding barometer of progress for me, it's just so exhilirating when something fits again (or for the first time!) or when something is TOO BIG! I had a similar situation of planning to wear something for New Year's two years ago, only to find it was too small and that I had nothing to wear...I just sat at home and cried because I couldn't go anymore. It's one of my most memorable 'low points'.

You're so right Roxy! And I do have to say I'm glad I didn't give in all those times I was tempted to get rid of those clothes out of embarrassment for not fitting them anymore. It will save me from having to buy new pants for another few months.

:thumbu2:Your doing so great!! Keep up the hard work, it is really paying off. Isn't it fun to go shopping in your own closet and find things that fit again. Be proud of yourself! You've put in some hard work and it is wonderful that your seeing the results starting. Just think how many more clothing items that have been waiting on "standby" in your closet your going to be fitting in soon.
