Thursday, Feb 25 2010 - Looking "Fit"

View PLATEOFSTARS's food & exercise for this day

I'm throwing my hands in the air now - I'm done with protesting.

I've been told so many times in the past month that I'm "looking fit" that I just have to assume that I must look somewhat fit otherwise I wouldn't keep hearing that word to describe me.

It's just the oddest thing for me to accept about myself! I don't consider myself "fit" AT ALL! When I think of someone who is fit, I think about someone at their ideal weight - with a low percentage of fat, toned muscles - and is someone who is addicted to exercising and eating healthy.

Really, I only "kind of" fit some of those descriptions. I am another 30-40 lbs from my ideal weight, definitely have a higher percentage of fat than I should, have some muscle tone - but a lot of extra padding around those muscles, I do like exercising but can certainly have my lazy days/weeks (has been the case the past few weeks with a broken toe), and I try to eat healthy but have absolutely no problem with a couple of drinks on the weekend and dessert items here and there.

Anyway - as I said... I'm going to politely smile and accept this compliment and start thinking about what I think about myself as being "fit" - whether or not I deserve this title... and what I can start to do and continue to do to earn this title. :karate:

It's kind of cool being called fit. NEVER in a million years would i have EVER thought I would be called fit. I was one lazy couch potato in high school! :nono2:

Thanks ladies! I'm starting to embrace it. It's actually a bit of a motivator to work out more... I mean, a girl has to earn her title doesn't she??? ;-)

Stop being so hard on yourself. Accept the great work, sweat, and tears you have put into your fantastic body! You set a goal and you have accomplished soooo much! Take time to see how high you have climbed.

Sister, get over it! You look good, youre going to look even more fit, more athletic as you get to your goal. Otherwise what was the point of this journey? Youre in the process of rediscovering who you were and who you are. Nothing anyone will ever say will take away that core person inside of you. You will always feel that dicotomy between old and new. You will always be a little taken aback when you get a hot mama comment :eyebrows:

My suggestion is to relax into the new body. Youre still the same wonderful girl inside, whether the outside is padded or not. Those comments you get have underlying factors of admiration and jealously. Deserving or not deserving a label or title is not the issue. You HAVE ALREADY earned any nice compliment you receive!

I keep getting called "Athletic". I'm in the same camp as you. I don't think people know how to describe you when you're between the 'fat' and the 'slim' stage, and you can see some development of muscles.

I'll take it. In fact, I'm embracing it. Being called fit or athletic means they're noticing your body is changing and looking fantastic.
