Tuesday, Mar 2 2010 - I'm becoming a runner!

I SO can't believe I'm becoming a runner.
Running was my "green eggs and ham" for years. I was incredibly pessimistic about running and would go on an on about what a waste of time it was and wonder how anyone would put up with the tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, pressure on their knees, etc etc.
But I love it! I really really do!
Last night I was out with my running group and near the end of our third set of 10 mins running/1 min walking I just took off... literally. I was running so fast that I got back to the store at least 4 mins before the next person behind me. Everyone was exclaiming when they got in that I was running "like a madwoman" and that I "took off like lightning". I honestly don't know what got into me... I just felt like speeding up and decided to run with it (no pun intended).
It felt SO GOOD!
I am running my first race, a 5k on March 14th. After that I'm going to start training for a 10k which will be sometime in May. I'm really looking forward to it!
And I have to tell you... although I haven't lost a lot of weight pounds-wise in the past months since starting running... I have noticed a huge difference in my butt! Ok, so *I* didn't notice, my husband did and pointed it out... but he's right. I'm FINALLY losing my caboose.

Yay! You are a runner, sister. And it feels good! The more you do it, the easier it gets! I started at the start of the year and now I'm up to 3 miles. I ran my first 5K 3 weeks ago and my long run this Saturday is 4 miles. I will have run 11 miles this week. And... I am training for a full marathon. I will run the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 10, 2010! I'm loving running, too!
