View PLATEOFSTARS's food & exercise for this day
Now that I'm successfully into the 160's I'm starting to really see my goal weight at the end of the tunnel. I've been aiming for 150 although several calculations have put me anywhere between 140-150 as my "ideal weight". I am more than happy to stop at 150, maintain for a while and see if somewhere between 140-150 is for me.
Now that I'm here... at 168... I'm taking stock of how close I am.
150 is just 18 lbs away.
A friend of mine was visiting from out of town last week and I was telling her about my weight loss and my personal weight goals. I consider her to be "ideal" weight - she's just a bit taller than me and very athletic (plays/played soccer semi-professionally). She's 155. Holy Croly that's only 13 lbs smaller than me!
She was kind of shocked that I'd be aiming for a smaller weight than she is (albeit I'm shorter than her and we did the wrist test and I have a smaller frame than her).
But I do have to also admit there's still this gap between what I think I look like in my mind's eye and what I really look like.
When I look in the mirror, I still only see the areas that still need work. I see a rubber belly and a butt that is a lot smaller than it used to be, but could stand some shrinkage. I also see my thighs more jiggly than I'd like them to be.
Maybe it's the perfectionist in me? I just can't see, when standing next to my friend, that I'm only 13 lbs from being the same size. It baffles me.
The next few months are going to be incredibly interesting as I get closer and closer to 150.

Girl, you are a size 8!! That is amazing! All those curves that are left are nothing more than voluptuousness at its finest! You look amazing and when you get to the weight that is good for you I really think that you will know it, your body will certainly know it. You have been an inspiration to me in that you seem to really accept yourself for who you are and what you look like for the most part. I envy that about you, I know you go through phases where you see the areas that still need work, in your mind, and I think that everyone goes through those times but you realize how far you have come and you know you look good. That is a big step. For those times when you doubt yourself just remember to look back on all you have accomplished and know that there are many of us out here that look up to you and inspire to do what you have done and you continue to do, become a healthier person.

Just a thought. You've worked really hard for those jiggly bits. Rather than having solid, sumu, fat-filled monster thighs, behind, and belly, you poked that balloon and have been working your tush off to squeeze out that volume. That jiggle is just your body waving "good bye" to your formerly zaftig self.
:)
As you continue to be more fit, and your body composition moves toward higher muscle percentage, you'll see the firming changes you hope for. I'm really excited for you as you move towards goal!
This really goes without saying, but congratulations on the manifestation of all your hard work, and an advance congrats on the positive manifestations yet to come!

Your friend may be near in weight however she has been training for years. Give yourself time to build up muscle and remember that you are doing fantastic! You are so close and I cannot wait to hear about your arrival to the maitenance stage! About the perfectionism - cover up all the mirrors in your house. Seriously - use a compact for make up and that is it. Give it a week or so - enough time to really forget what your body looked like. In a week you will be surprised how different what you saw in the mirror was from what really was in the mirror. Yay you have come so far! WOOHOO!

What if you think it about it this way. When you get to the weight where you want to stay for awhile you can just focus on that. Then once you hit that # your next goal can be fixing the jiggly parts? Even though you are doing both at the same time, sometimes we need to trick our heads... It does work for me once in a while when I start overthinking my loss and body image.

As you've done for your weight loss journey, have you ever thought to take a picture of you and her next to each other? Maybe it would give you a *visual* of yourself.

I think sometimes we get so used to picking out the negatives on our bodies (heck I do it as encouragment to keep working out sometimes) that even when we should be seeing the positives it's difficult. I think you are right to start addressing this because we can always find something 'wrong' with us, no matter our size. Even though I've lost a fair amount of weight for my height, I still have to do battle with my brain to realize I am smallerIn my experience, it can be really hard to adjust both the negative talk, and the image you see in the mirror. And not adjusting leads to those same negative feelings we had when we were bigger. I've been working on changing my thinking a lot - and I think that's affected my eyes too.
;) Take the time to focus on the positives you're seeing! After a while it will become a habit.
