Ok
So I have felt over the past few days that I might have gained weight. Got on the scale and realized I'm right.
It's not a lot. 3, maybe 4 pounds max. I am really bummed about it, but I suppose this is part of the maintenance process right? Learning when we've gone over in calories, modifying and getting ourselves back in line.
So... here I am. Getting myself back in line. Correcting some bad habits that have crept up in the past few weeks:
1) Bad logging, if I log at all
2) Comfort eating - lots and lots of bread-y foods
3) Less exercise
4) Late night eating and eating when I'm not hungry
5) More alcohol than I normally have
And here's what I'm going to do about it:
1) Log consistently every day
2) Cut out the muffin every morning and eat less bread at night. More protein at every meal.
3) Get back on track with exercise... run 2x/week, weights 2-3x/week, hockey 1x/week
4) No more eating in the evening! Brushing my teeth after dinner will help with that
5) not that alcohol is a huge problem, but I've been having 2 glasses of wine a week now. I don't need to
and 6) cut back calories a little bit
Argh. Annoying, but I do appreciate this is part of the process. I am glad my body told me though... I didn't even have to get on the scale to know that I had gained.

You are all absolutely correct. I really am patting myself on the back (got over lecturing myself over 'how could I let this happen!')... because the old me wouldn't have noticed, and even if she did she would have been too scared to get on the scale and not motivated enough to stop the bad habits.

But Nicole-pat yourself on the back. You recognized what was going on before it was more than 3 or 4 pounds and you're correcting it. That's the difference.

I had the same issue. At first it started with letting myself have wine. Then it was potato chips. And before I knew it, I was running hog wild with my mouth open and letting anything in.
That being said, 3-4lbs is still in a maintenance zone. But if the zippers aren't going up like they're supposed to, then that's usually bloat and the junk talking.
Glad you recognized it before it got out of hand.

That sounds like a good plan. Isn't it great that you have the knowledge you need to make a few adjustments and be right back on track?

Isn't that crazy? I know when I've gained too. I can feel it on me. So strange. How did I not notice when I was gaining 50 pounds but I now notice when I've gained 5?

Agreed, those little things are so tricky you don't even notice it's a problem sometimes. Good for your for recognizing it and taking control!

It is so easy for those bad habits to creep back in. I've been eating way to many *bad* carbs myself. Sounds like you have your plan in line so you'll get back on track easy!
