That's right people I did the very first day of the c25k program. I got up early this morning and put on my runningish shoes and packed up the dogs and out I went into the dark (cause I don't want anyone seeing me run just yet). To prepare myself I splurged and bought an ipod shuffle and downloaded a podcast (Robert Ullrey). I looked pretty awkward out there but I'll be damn if I didn't finish the entire thing. That means I walked for 5 minutes then did 8 repetitions of 60 sec running and 90 second walking and finished it off with a 5 minute cool down walk.

I was pretty dog tired when I got back. Hell, the dogs were dog tired too. I need to get a longer leash though since it got a little hairy trying to run and handle a leash.

And to give myself a little reward I took myself for a short walk during my lunch break and then ran up 3 flights of stairs...okay maybe not much running but it was definitely much faster than walking!!

I will probably do each week twice (if not more) for a while just to really ease myself into this whole concept of running outside. I don't really want to rely on the treadmill too much as its too cumbersome to try and run like a fat girl and push those damn buttons.

Yay!

AWESOME! Sounds like you got some motivation going on over there. I'm still dealing with the whole exercise thing being an issue, so you're making progress in my eyes.

My little ipod shuffle was one of the best running investments I ever made. (Just after a good pair of shoes and a really good bra! ;) )
