I really want to read everyones blog right now but also want to post about my upcoming appointment on Friday. There is no word yet on Superman as of today (Tuesday). So Ive decided to go ahead and schedule a session with another trainer for this coming Friday. I knew who I had in mind so it was just a matter of approaching and asking for a session.
This is Coach Chuck (Im not giving him a super hero name since I have no idea whats happening with Superman). Hes pretty much the bees knees when it comes to trainers. Ive watched him now for several months and if things werent so awesome with Superman, hed be my next pick. I approached him today and reiterated that while Im not jumping ship, it has been almost a month since my last training session and Id like to at least do something while waiting to hear the outcome of Supermans situation. He agreed and so we set something up for Friday. Coach Chuck is a great guy and Im really happy that hes willing to do these interim sessions until further notice. He even agreed to not charge me since I bought the sessions thinking I was going to be with Superman.

and his Philosophy:
I believe a trainers job is more than to just instruct their clients on proper body alignment, nutrition, and the correct use of equipment. A trainer should be a life coach; someone who cares about the whole person, not just their physical body. As a Trainer, I try to understand my clients lifestyle; their likes, dislikes, their background, and their goals. I then model their training with those elements in mind. My goal is to first understand, then teach, inspire, and motivate. My background as a coach has taught me that lasting change does not come when you tell a person what to do, but only when you teach them how to do it. My goal, during the time I spend with my clients, is to design a program that they can enjoy and teach them how to take positive steps towards lasting changes; to teach them life skills that will last a life time
Yhea, pretty much rockstar right there.
So Friday it is, unless Superman says something different.

Tara, I love that you know so much about the trainers. After PT I will be looking for a trainer to get me back to where I was before the accident. (Skiing - blew out my ACL. I am 3 weeks post-op). How did you learn so much? Did they have a bio printed? Questions you asked him? I am curious. I watch the trainers at the gym and am very aware of who is busy watcing all the girls in the gym and who is focused on their client. But as far as their education, specialization and philosophy...these are important to me as well and I am not sure how to find out. I have a friend who became a "personal trainer" at my gym and she has NO background besides a couple of saturday classes. I need more than that. Thanks. And good luck with new trainer!

I'm leaning towards M.A.T as his nickname (Most Awesome Trainer). But have to put him to the test first lol.

Sounds like you might have given your new trainer a name after all...Rockstar!
I hope that things are okay with Superman, that worries me that he hasn't been in contact with anyone. Keeping him in my thoughts.
I am glad that you got a new trainer though, it will help to keep you focused and motivated while waiting for Superman to return...hey, I think there is a movie title in there somewhere!!
