Wednesday, Mar 11 2009 - I am a RUNNER!

View ROCKMOM2's food & exercise for this day

I have to say, tonight is the first time I really felt like a “runner”. It is pouring rain and in the 40s…weather like this required me to get back on my trusty treadmill. I haven’t been on the TM in more than a month. I used to LOVE the TM and thought people were crazy that liked outside better. I really like both. Both have advantages in my opinion. I say I am slow, well, I really am. I walked 2 min at 3.5/mph and ran 26 min at 4.7 and walked 2 at 3.5. I didn’t ever really get tired at 4.7...I think it was a 12:45 pace…maybe I don’t do as well outside because I push myself so hard. I average like 11:30-11:50/pace outside with my garmin. I am so much more comfortable at 12:45...That means I could complete 5 Miles in 63+ minutes…not today of course, I don’t think??? Can’t try because the running group is really not up to that yet. They did say they would help me work to do a 10K in May…YIPPEE!

Weight today was 148.4. I have averaged 3 lbs per month for the last 3 months. Goal weight is 135.0, I think. Tried on several brands of jeans today and am strongly in a size 8...I have not seen this size in more than 10 years. Isn’t it funny how different brands are not the same though…I can get into a few size 6 jeans, but they are pretty tight, I may make that my goal instead of a weight.

I have also determined that my “window” needs to be at least 3 lbs. I can flux that much easily in a day, and will simply need to know that when I am at the high end of the 3lb window, I need to shake things up and not eat back all my exercise calories, etc. I have not been eating back any most days and some days eat back only half. I think for me maintaining will mean eating back exercise calories. When I was doing that I was only losing like 1 lb a month. I must have really put my metabolism to sleep after the years and years of yo-yo dieting.

Enough for tonight…stressful things going on at home and I really just needed to put down some positive stuff so I could look back and remember it.

Thanks for being part of my life!

Oh MY!! To be a size 8 again!! It's probably been 30 years since I've been that small. When I got married in 1977, I was 99 lbs soaking wet and wore a size 1!! Yep a size 1!!! Congrats to you!! :rock1:

i forgot to get back to you about spring break! If you get to come over I would love to get together! I have clinic on Mondays and Thursdays, so the only obvious problem with us running together is you either have to come to clinic with me....or we can't :cry4: I do my 3rd day on Saturdays to break it up good. Clinic is pretty informal and people bring kids, so you really would be welcome! But if you don't wanna, I understand  And girl, I ain't no speed demon like you! :laugh5: We are just now doing 2/2 this week...not sure what next week will bring...my guess is 3/2 or 3/90. Thanks for the info on the Garmin, will talk more with you about it later :y:

Girl you have BEEN a runner for months now :thumbu2: . Ihad to do the TM tonight too....I guess I still like both, but it is easier when there is someone to be accountable to :laugh5: (running clinic cancelled bcuz of weather). I wish I were as slow as you. I still W@3mph and R@4 :cross1: . I do still have a lot of weight to lose though, so hopefully I will gain a little speed when I lose a little fat :thumbu2:

Hey, runner girl, you are so close to goal. Can you see that light at the end of the tunnel. You are certainly running toward it both literally and figuratively. You should be so proud of yourself. And size 8 jeans? I can't imagine! Congrats to you . . .

You are doing so awesome with the weight loss and the running. I used to feel the same way about the TM and running outside...and now, I much prefer outside. The funny thing is I am faster outside. I think it is because I can allow myself to slow down when I need to without having to push the buttons, you know?

I am so proud of you. You are doing so great. Isn't it neat to fit into a smaller size? And running ....wow. I will have to admit after doing the 5k I felt great but no desire to do it again right away. You are definetely an inspiration to alot of us. Have a great day Vicky...:wave1::wave1:

:hi: Sounds like you are really doing great with the running. A 3 pound window sounds good to me. I can flux that much in a day, too. Hope things get a bit less stressful at home soon.
