ROCKMOM2's CalorieKing blog

Sunday, Apr 5 2009 - COMPLETED 4TH 5k in record time for ME!

View ROCKMOM2's food & exercise for this day

Finished 4th 5K on Saturday! It was AMAZING. I actually was able to run the entire 3.1 miles and did it in my best 5K time ever…here are the stats:

Place in 45-49 F Age Group: 20 out of 56
(832 Finishers - 360 Male/472 Female--Sex Place 179)
Bib #2060
Age: 48
Overall Place: 439 our of 832
Chip time: 33:57.9
Pace: 10:55/M

I used my Garmin 405 and set up the VIRTUAL PARTNER…first time I used it…it kept my on target to stay under 11:00/M…that was my goal for this race and I DID IT!

Hubby didn’t get to run/walk…he started the race but just before the 1st mile turned around due to foot problems…he has orthotics and needs to see the doc to get updated so he can run. He has been pushing too hard with me and I think may have injured his foot.

Son and his GF did run the race and son stayed with me for the first mile! This was a real victory for him to run for an entire mile YEAH! They both beat their previous 5K times!

I am still in a state of AWE regarding this running thing. I still cannot believe I DO THIS!

Here are the next races I have scheduled:

May 2nd - 1st 10K - Mayfest Fort Worth, TX
June 18 - 5K - Smackover, AR
July 11 - 5K - The Big Damn Bridge, Little Rock, AR
Dec - White Rock Marathon (½ marathon)---still a little intimidated by this but going to commit and go for it!

I will schedule more as the year goes on, plan to do at least 1 each month…keeps me motivated from one race to the next!

Weight is back up, but I loaded on Pasta (great excuse) cause I love it on Friday night; then on Sat night we had a family feast of hubby’s homemade fajitas and the works! Only up a pound since 4/1 so I am totally OK with it!

I am going to try to only post every few days on this site as I am finding I am neglecting some of my responsibilities (bills/etc.) to give shouts to all…not a good idea. I may be “lurking” but not as many posts.

You are all awesome! Thanks for being part of my life!

you can do the half. i followed the same path you're on, going from nothing to running marathons (3 so far). just train smart, and know that your first time out for a half doesn't have to be fast. crossing the finish line, no matter what the time, is why we all do this.

Woot!! :rock1::rolling1::rolling1::rock1: Those are amazing stats!!! You are the :queen: Good luck with that staying away thing..lol. Then you won't be able to catch up from days of not reading and that will frustrate you to pieces. I had to compromise and NOT 'shout out' to everyone!
