YEAH! I got the photo to download...
Julie (JTAPP9) and I got to run together on Saturday morning 4/11. I had a really good time! Julie is much faster than she lets on! I was glad when we slowed down and walked during our run together! The bridge behind is us called the Big Dam Bridge and is the longest, or at least one of the longest bridges you can walk or bike across in the US...I think. There is a beautiful trail at the end of the bridge that loops the city. I think it is something like 14 miles total. We only did a little over 3.1 miles on Saturday...my mom was preparing a "brunch" for all of us. Julie can now understand how I gained 3 lbs in 3 days!
Thanks for meeting up with me Julie! I can't wait til next time we are in your area!---maybe you will be home and we can do it again...unless of course you are lucky enough to be gone on one of your weekend camping trips (yes, I am jealous)!
Running Update:
Aparently I have increased my mileage a little too fast for this girl! Yesterday morning when I was running I got a really sharp cramp like pain in my right hip, just above my thigh...this was probably the only time I have gone running without my phone...I decided I had better just walk back to my parents house...the muscle was very tight.
When I got home I got out a book and looked up possibly injuries...seems I have strained my I T Band (Iliotibial Band)...a strip of connective tissue that runs from the hip along the outside of the thigh muscle and attaches to the outside of the tibia (shin bone) just below the knee. This is one of the injuries that can be improved through "stretches" as well as rest. It is also OK to walk with the injury, so until Wed at least, it is walking for this girl.
Week before last I had done 24 miles during the week. Last week I did 35 miles...everything I read NOW says you should not increase your mileage more than 10-15% per week. HA...why didn't I SEE this before? I guess I truly have to learn things the hard way. Not so bad though, glad to see it is something that is easily remedied.
Weight Update:
OK, not a very good weekend, starting with Friday...3 days with my mother cooking (this is how she shows us she loves us)...lotz of full fat, full cheese and even fried items. All really good and I didn't log all weekend. Gain of 3 pounds. Really it was more than 3, but up from 1 week ago by 2.8 actually. Back to logging, did this last night for Sunday, so really only skipped 2 days of logging to next the 3 lbs. Yes, Vicki, you will have to log your food for the rest of your life.
Easter Fun
Oh, forgot to mention the Easter Egg Hunt the kids had...my folks put $20 in 20 eggs for each of the grandkids. They spent more than an hour outside searching for their eggs. Each child could only collect their color of eggs. These children were the following ages: 12, 16, 18, 22 and 22 (had to do this Sat evening, due to T-storms scheduled for Sunday)
Then we came in and colored the boiled eggs...yes the same age children were coloring eggs. We had a GREAT time!
Hubby even joined in the fun!

I'm so jealous that you and Julie got to meet and run together and then eat Brunch at your moms too! I love the idea of having the different colored eggs for each age child...that would make it very interesting!!!! Love all your pics too!

Hey Vicki,
Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures and Easter events. It sounds like your family had so much fun. It's cool that the older kids joined in on the fun. Wow! Running definitely suits you. I'm glad you are enjoying it so much but sorry about your injury. Sounds like you have a good plan to address it though. Enjoy the week of walking and take care.

Big Dam Bridge? Do you think they intended the pun or was that just lucky? Made me giggle anyway.
Great job doing all that running! Someday I may try to run again but I'm not quite there yet~!

Vicki's family are THE GREATEST people! I had a wonderful time and got fed brunch after our run! Her mom cooked the most wonderful "we shouldn't be eating this" bunch of food
:laugh5: . I didn't complain! I just ate like a good guest should do
:teeth1: No I did not cross the Big Dam Bridge, but I think we had a great run/walk on the trail alongside the river. That smile Vicki has is all her pictures is real! She is one of the happiest, most cheerful people I've met! Very vibrant and energetic! I see hubby finally combed his hair
:wink2: Those are great pictures. I'll try to get mine posted tonight. Busy day at work today and clinic tonight, so not sure.
