The Results Are In

Thursday, November 30th 2006

Yes! :y: I am one pound lighter this week. Small victories! Even with the onslaught of desserts at Thanksgiving I was able to shed another pound this week. I think I owe it to the "incidental" exercise over the weekend. I wound up raking leaves on Sunday afternoon for about 2 and half hours. I highly dislike :( raking leaves, but any exercise I can get is worth it. I Google'd the exercise and raking leaves appears to burn about 300 calories for every hour that you do it. My front y...

Anticipating Weigh In

Wednesday, November 29th 2006

Thursdays are my weigh-in days and while I get excited to see my current weight I am always a little anxious, fearing that I may not have lost any weight this week. While that's true, I also believe that faith and perseverance can overcome fear.

On a personal note, I did a pre-weigh-in weigh-in this morning and it didn't make me very happy. For some reason this has been a tough week as it relates to my eating and exercise plan. I think it started with breaking down and eating pizza (my kryptonite) at my daughter's birthday party this past Saturday. The depressing, rainy weather in NJ the past few days has not been a mood lifter either. Anyway, I'm back on track today. I'm going to take a break from my desk in a few minutes to go ta...

Small Victories!

Thursday, November 9th 2006

The more I think about success in any aspect of life, it seems to me that success is made up of small victories. My profession is software engineering and in order for a software project to be successful it must be broken up into smaller, more manageable tasks. When smaller tasks are accomplished, it produces a sense of achievement and builds momentum towards the accomplishment of the larger picture.

Likewise, with weight loss, if I think about the fact that I have 70 pounds to lose, it...
